Swarovski's newest eyepiece design, the 25-50x W Wide Angle Zoom Eyepiece, is a rugged, light, and brilliant performer meant for a lifetime of faithful service. This distinguished ocular has a complex 9-element aspherical optical formula which provides a 2x zoom (25-50x magnification with Swarovski's 65mm & 80mm scopes). Unlike nearly every other zoom on the market, though, the W 25-50x maintains a wide apparent field of view across its entire range. It nearly eliminates the need for a second eyepiece of fixed magnification, providing almost the same experience of wider viewing at every stop along its range.
Swarovski uses proprietary water-repelling coatings to keep this premium eyepiece clean and like new for years, and their "Swarotop" coatings are known in the sport optics world for delivering bright, life-like, true fidelity to your subject. The helicoid-type eyecup design, with 17mm of constant eye relief, accommodates those with and without eyeglasses alike. Perhaps best of all, this eyepiece's field of view is always wide and flat-field-focused, meaning that you'll be hard pressed to find a better performer for digiscoping than this one. Use the DCB brackets for your point and shoot, or the DCA adapter for your SLR combined with a standard lens.

Comments about Swarovski 25-50x W Wide Angle Zoom Eyepiece:
I compared this eyepiece with the old 20-60x eyepiece on my 80mm HD scope before I decided which one to get. I came to the conclusion that this is the zoom eyepiece one should get a the Swarovski scope. Both eyepieces offer great clarity and resolution. The main advantage of the 25-50x is the expansive view from 25x all the way to 50x. At the low end, the new eyepiece provides greater true FOV at a higher magnification than the old eyepiece. Translated to real birding situation, that means you see more birds that look larger and has more details. This is a win-win situation. At the high end, the magnification difference is not that great between 50x and 60x. In fact, if 50x vs. 60x makes a difference in your ID, I would argue that you are better off with an astronomy eyepiece that provides even higher magnification. The Swarovski 80mm HD scopes are so good optically, I have no doubt you can push it to at least 75x (6mm eyepiece) without much degradation of the view. Of course, even at 50x, the atomosphric condition often make the image shimmer so much that it provides no more ID help than at 30-40x. In that sense, the slight disadvantage of 50x vs. 60x is even less of an issue in practice.
The 25-50x eyepiece is also a lot closer to being parfocal than the 20-60x, which means you'll need to refocus a lot less when you change the zoom. It also has slightly longer eye relief in practice than the 20-60x, which should be better for glass wearers. All in all, if you are deciding which zoom to get, the $160 price difference is a small price to pay for the better view and other nicities of the 25-50x.

Comments about Swarovski 25-50x W Wide Angle Zoom Eyepiece:
Had been using the 45X Wide eyepiece before but this item has now been discontinued. When I got my new Swarovski scope, this was an obvious choice for me. Have always preferred a wide-angle eyepiece over the standard zoom due to wider field of view and easier location of subjects and now to have this luxury with zoom functionality is simply awesome. Highly recommended and typical Swarovski quality.

Comments about Swarovski 25-50x W Wide Angle Zoom Eyepiece:
Primarily use this for spotting big game and digiscoping big game. Wide angle provides better field of view. Also use 20 X 60 and 20 power but like this the best. Needs very stable tripod at higher powers (>30)
