B+W 58mm Digital Pro Ultraviolet (UVa) 010 Filter
The B&W 58mm Digital Pro Ultraviolet (UVa) 010 Filter isa wise initial investment. B+W UV filters are excellent general purpose filters since they will not only protect your front element from airborne contaminants as well as fingerprints but also help you get better images at high altitude and while on the water. Using this filter will diminish the bluish cast caused by the various atmospheric factors, yet, it will not have an effect on the color balance of your shot. No increase in exposure is required.
A UV filter is the best available protection for the front element of your lens. A lens that accidentally gets dropped on its front element while hiking can potentially be saved by purchasing this item. Some people refer to them as "cheap insurance".
Aside from that more-than-significant benefit, UV filters cut through some of the haze in the atmosphere rendering your photos clearer, sharper and more contrasty. For those who enjoy outdoor photography, especially distant vistas, a UV filter can produce a more distinct image by removing much of the blue tint normally associated with atmospheric haze.
The filter ring is made from brass yielding a stronger product. Brass filter rings are also less prone to jamming. I have used several filter brands and the B&W digital pro series was an excellent buy which I knew as soon as I picked it up. This filters build quality is readily apparent as soon as you feel how heavy this filter is, the heft of these filters is much more than some of the even more expensive units out there. The clarity of this UV filter is also top notch with no noticible affects on the images. I'm not a professional photographer but an avid Ameteur who knows quality when they see it, the only con I could find is the frame is silver instead of matte black but thus far hasnt had an affect on my images. You should have no qualms about purchasing this unit!

It's such a simple product, but works wonders. Photo quality is much improved (but you could've seen this from the product description!), and I'm mostly happy that my actual lens is protected now.
Must have, and not too expensive - way cheaper than buying a new lens!

Obviously is not the best UV filter you can get but it's a great performer for its price.
The one I get was silver. If you prefer it in black I'd recommend to ask first.
