This is my first DSLR. I love it, I did a lot of research before purchase and I just kept coming back to the Sony Alpha series.
I couldn't find another entry level DSLR that had the simplicity of this camera. Another great thing is that they keep this simplicity throughout the whole series so it's like you can "grow up" with Sony, so to speak.
I mainly photograph Nature and animals and this camera is perfect for it, although I am getting a telephoto lens as the kit lens is more of a general lens.
The design is great and compact. The controversial grip design isn't that bad to me. I can hold the camera comfortably and firmly, but that is just personal testimony, it might not be like that for everyone.
The tilting LCD does come in very handy when I need live view at odd angles but other than that I shoot straight from the OVF.
Overall this camera is perfect for any beginner looking into their first DSLR that is, in my opinion, the best user friendly DSLR. It breaks down every shooting mode so it is easy to understand what to do. This camera takes stunning photos and you won't be disappointed. It will help you all the way from full auto mode to manual mode in no time!

Camera was purchased for everyday use, memory shots of family and freinds. I did not want a camera that also shot video, something that is hard to come by with others. Simply to use for anyone.

I ordered the Sony A330 for my high school yearbook students to use. The live view and tilt screen are great for lining up shots and getting those amazing angles that take photographs to the next level. Perfect for shooting into the middle of a huddle or down at you subject without having to be up high. The ability to shoot video also helps out and allows us to double the use with the video tech class.

The camera has the strengths (and some of the few weaknesses) that other customer reviews pointed out. I'm grateful for those who left their opinion before me. This camera is exactly what I needed!

The camera is ok except for the bad grip design for anyone with normal to lager sized hands, and not having a CMOS sensor. Also the stabilization is in the which I think is a con.

I like the stabilization built inside of this camera. It takes excellent pictures. I am only an amateur photographer, but was told to buy this camera from a professional who has one and he gets his photos published.

This is my first DSLR and I was a bit intimidated at first. This camera is awesome, in the menu when you go to change a feature, it tells you what each feature does. Great camera for a first time DSLR buyer who wants to take great pictures without spending a fortune.
