The Sigma 50-200mm f/ 4- 5.6 DC OS HSM is a compact, high-performance telephoto zoom lens. It utilizes Sigma's own Optical Stabilizer function to eliminate the effects of camera shake so subjects can be easily and clearly seen in the cameras viewfinder in addition to the image. It allows the use of shutter speeds up to 4 stops slower than normal for steady, handheld photography. For Pentax cameras the built-in OS System allows the photographer to see the stabilized image in the viewfinder and can be used as an alternative with cameras having built-in image stabilization.
The lens incorporates SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass in the front lens groups and is equipped with an inner focusing system to provide high image quality throughout the entire zoom range. The incorporation of HSM (Hyper-Sonic Motor) ensures quiet and high-speed auto focus.
The Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting and provides high contrast images throughout the entire zoom range. This lens has a minimum focusing distance of 43.3inches (110cm) throughout the entire zoom range and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4.5. An inner focusing system eliminates front lens rotation, making it suitable for use with circular polarizing filters.

Comments about Sigma 50-200mm f/4-5.6 DC OS HSM High Performance Telephoto Zoom For Pentax Cameras:
I received the lens today and the autofocus does not work. It's the lens, not the camera. My other AF lenses work. Pentax K110 with the Sigma Pentax compatible 50-200 zoom.

Comments about Sigma 50-200mm f/4-5.6 DC OS HSM High Performance Telephoto Zoom For Pentax Cameras:
I bought this lens for possible use at an indoor well lit Pow Wow coming up soon. To test its low light capabilities, I visited the night creatures exhibit at our local zoo and was very happy to have gotten several very clear and sharp photos of some of the animals in simulated moonlight, which is twice as dim as the lighting at the Pow Wow.It focuses fast and surprisingly silently; is well balanced on my Pentax K200D, and has yet to produce a shot I'm not happy with. Added bonus is that it looks expensive when it's very affordable! Another hit for Sigma! Am also very pleased with B&H! [...] Definitely can highly recommend both this lens and B&H.Thanks, guys!

Comments about Sigma 50-200mm f/4-5.6 DC OS HSM High Performance Telephoto Zoom For Pentax Cameras:
This lense is great value for the money, in fact its fantastic value. The AF motor is near silent. The zoom function is quick and smooth. The lense comes with a lense hood and stores nicely on the end of the lense when not in use. I like having it stowed there as it keeps my fingers away from the manual focus ring.[...]

Comments about Sigma 50-200mm f/4-5.6 DC OS HSM High Performance Telephoto Zoom For Pentax Cameras:
I bought this lens as an addition to the kit lens to extend my zoom range. And I cannot describe the Image quality that it has consistently pumped for the price at offer. Huge upgrade from the kit lens. Add to that a metal bayonet and an efficient hood.
However, the focusing is a bit slow, and has a short throw for Manual focus(not a worry if you use auto-focus though). I would have given it a five had it not been for the slow autofocus. Definitely recommended!!!
