The Electro 3 from Nord is a 61-key virtual electromechanical organ, piano, and Mellotron instrument with semi-weighted, velocity sensitive keys. It comes loaded with authentic sounds with every detail you'd expect to hear in vintage instruments, from the pedal down sounds to the key off noises. What sets the Electro 3 apart is its dedication to tasteful and playable instruments, and its simple and intuitive interface that allows the musician to fully concentrate on making music, and nothing more.
There are 9 digitally controlled drawbars on the Electro 3 that are just as easy to use as mechanical drawbars. There's an "Up" button and a "Down" button for each drawbar, and pushing them makes the LED column above go up or down. The great advantage is that you can change sounds, and the LED drawbars will instantly adjust and display in the position they were in when the preset was saved. You can save 17 of your own presets for each organ on the Electro 3.
A host of built-in effects are supplied that enable you to tweak a sound to your liking. Use reverb and chorus to sweeten up the tone, or throw in an amp simulator to rip open your sound. Additional sounds are downloadable for free from the Nord website to broaden your palette of expression (the Mellotron sounds are available from the site). You can also load your own samples into the Electro 3 for a totally custom sound. This keyboard was designed for the active musician, and it can easily travel with you, where ever your music takes you.

Comments about Nord Electro 3 - 61-Key Organ, Piano, and Mellotron Instrument:
Used for gigging and practice. Great sound and very portable. Missing are weighted keys and hammer action. The newest model has hammer action. Probably, weighted keys would increase weight and reduce portability. More memory for storing high-sample sounds should be added. Intriguing organ emulations. As good as they are, the piano sounds are not a substitute for an excellent acoustic piano. One can still, however, make exciting music with this instrument. As the owner of an 88-key keyboard, I can vouch that one can do a lot with what might seem like "only" 61 keys.

Comments about Nord Electro 3 - 61-Key Organ, Piano, and Mellotron Instrument:
The collection of electric pianos are great. I never realized I really liked the sound of a farfisa organ until I played it through the Electro 3. I would have gladly paid another hundred or two, more, just to have more space for all of the great sounds on the Nord website. The leslie speaker simulation is beautiful, too. If all you have is a sustain pedal, then it will do just fine for changing the rotation speed of the leslie, when it's on.If you're having any doubts, buy it. It's pricey, but if you've got the budget and you're already shopping, then there's no reason to worry. Plus, this thing generally retails for around [$], everywhere else. I was just happy to find it as a new item, at a used price.

Comments about Nord Electro 3 - 61-Key Organ, Piano, and Mellotron Instrument:
I gig on a regular basis and this keyboard is perfect for a cramped stage. It is easy to carry around and so far I have not had any reliability issues. This is not a super workstation keyboard. It does not come with 8000 sounds that you will never use. It does have several great piano, rhodes, and organ sounds. If you don't like all of the sounds you can swap them with included software. The library seems to be updated often and can offer something for everyone. For the price, I wish it had hammer weighted keys, but the semi-weighted keys allows for easier organ fills and slides.
If you are in the market for a high quality, compact, stage keyboard look no further!
