This Sakar Remote Shutter Release fits the Canon EOS 1D, 1Ds, 5D, 40D, 50D, and other cameras using Canon's "N3" connection. It has a two-stage deployment, meaning it can initiate autofocus and metering separately from deploying the shutter.

Product works well. It's not fancy but does the
job for a really good price. Build is fine.

Works great and it has a lock mechanism for using it with a "bulb" setting. Only oddity is the 90-degree connector looking FORWARD.

I owned this only for a couple of weeks. The only oddity I see is that it has a 90-degree connector pointing FORWARD. Works and has a bulb lock-in slider.

Can't believe how much more clarity I get when using the remote release over just handheld and even firmly attached to a tripod. Definitely a worthwhile investment of [$]

I purchased this product because I wanted to delve into night photography. Not wanting to spend the money for the Canon release, I took a chance on this one. I've taken over 200 pictures with it so far, and I couldn't be happier.

This one's price is so low comparing to the other ones, but it works just as good. I have been using it for several months and it's still like new!
I was just looking for a way to reduce camera shake like everyone else. Why pay more???
I'm sure you can always find ones that are better built but they are not going to give you better photos.
This one is a must have either as your back-up or main remote release. =D

My son and I went on a photo shoot week and he used this model and I used a more expensive one. Mine broke after several days. They were both brand new. I have sense gone out and bought this model. I especially like the feature that allows you to shoot either a single frame or multiple frames (comes in handy for HDR). While a wireless would be nicer, I do like the cord on this as it is not coiled so you do not have to have tension on the camera to get further away from the camera.

I bought this product to enable more stable shutter release during long exposures. Even though it is a small item it has had a large impact on my photography. Very pleased to have it in my gadget bag.

I had lost my Canon release that I had paid $70 for on a trip and did not want to invest that much for something that might get lost again. This unit works fine. The only thing negative is that the switch is more sensitive then the Canon original. I use it on My 5D Mark II and my 40D

I own this and Canon's, and this is at least as good--maybe better (thicker cable, a little smoother button). You can buy one of these and one for a back up, and still come out ahead.

Costs $60 less than original equipment, works well.

So far, it works well without any problems. Plus, it's a lot less expensive than the Canon brand product. The only thing I don't like about it is that the distance/amount of pressure between pushing the button to activate the camera (autofocus, exposure, etc) is very close to the distance/amount of pressure needed to fire the shutter. Occasionally, when pressing the button to activate the camera the shutter is fired accidentally.
