The HA-NC80 headphones from JVC provide high-quality audio and exceptional noise cancellation abilities in a compact and comfortable design. Neodymium drivers provide clear, crisp audio with a wide frequency response. There are 2 modes of noise cancellation; "Wide" and "Low" for targeting general noise, such as a jet cabin, or lower-frequency sounds, such as bus or train. The headphones operate for up to 50 hours on a single AAA battery.
The headphones have thick on-ear cushions and a padded, adjustable headband to provide long-lasting comfort. The standard 3.5mm plug is compatible with a wide variety of MP3 players, CD players, and other consumer devices. A dual-prong airplane plug is included for connecting to in-flight entertainment systems. The fold-flat design and included carrying pouch make it easy to store the headphones for travel.

I'm pleased with the look and feel of these headphones, they appear to be good quality. Many other headphones which fold are complicated in how they do so, but these swivel & fold quite easily for compact storage. I use them most for video editing so my family doesn't have to hear the audio starting and stopping.
They sound great and are worth the $.

These cans sound really good for its price but I guess I expected too much especially when it comes to noise cancelling.
Structure: Frame is made of plastic and there are times I think i would break it while adjusting it. It also looks smaller than I expect it to be. Ear cushion is made of synthetic leather and it feels small and thin when you rest it on your ears. Cable length is good and feels durable. The folding design makes it portable for transport and it comes with a synthetic leather bag.
Sound: For its price, it is a steal! Though the bass is quite weak.
Comfort: Contrary to the other reviews here, it feels uncomfortable after about an hour of use. Since the ear cushion is small, it takes some time to find the right comfort level.
Noise Cancelling: Don't bother! The two levels of noise cancelling is useless. Turning the noise cancelling barely made a difference. I have owned a Yamaha EPH-20 and cancels more noise than this without the digital noise cancelling.
Conclusion: These cans are good for the one's looking for portable, great sounding and cheap cans. In my case, I am looking for more than great sound. Comfort and good noise cancelling is better for me for the same price.
My Solution: Returned the item and replaced it with Sony MDR-XB300 headphones

Comments about JVC HA-NC80 On-Ear Noise Cancelling Stereo Headphones:
I purchased the JVC HA-NC80 noise canceling headphones for watching movies on an iPod during air flights. My next flight won't be for a while; so out of curiosity and to the extent possible; I performed two tests of the headphone "noise canceling" capabilities in my home.
Test one was done in the bathroom using the ventilation fan as a noise source.
Test two was done in my living room with a tank-type vacuum cleaner as a noise source located far enough away to simulate the volume of jet engine noise.
In both tests, the headphones, when worn, DID cancel/reduce the exterior test noises. Most of the noise reduction simply came from the seal between the headphones and ears. I tested the electronic noise canceling using the on-off switch and the low/wide mode switch on the phones. The mode switch did not make an appreciable difference canceling either test noise. The on-off switch did produce a slightly more noticeable noise reduction, but more so from the vacuum cleaner than from the bathroom fan.
I would have to say, overall headphone noise reduction comes pretty close to the 75% advertised and is adequate for reducing jet engine noise sufficiently to comfortably hear the movie audio from an iPod. In all fairness, the real capabilities of the JVC headphones won't be realized until they are tested using a real jet engine noise source. It is possible that the headphones electronics are more accurately tuned to a jet engine's frequency. We shall see.
I've tested the mighty, high-priced Bose noise canceling headphones in a department store using their "jet engine" noise source from a speaker. Impressive! But, for my purposes, the low cost JVC phones should be more than adequate for me. The JVC headphone's sound quality, appearance, craftsmanship, and fold ability are excellent; I would recommend them.

The Headphones were light and comfortable, even after long periods of use. The noise cancelling feature quality was surprisingly great for its value. It shut down all outside noise completely. I, an average non picky listener, thought the sound quality to be quite good and a crip. A great value for a wired headset

Best I've found for the price. Use the noise canceling features when I walk on the beach. Only suggestion: add an in-line voliume control. Would be much less hassle than pulling out my I-Pod, unlocking it, and controlling the volume there.

I use these headphones to listen to music on my iPod and movies on my laptop. For a pair of headphones that cost less than $50 the sound quality is quite impressive. I don't think you'll find much better in this price range. My favorite feature they have is, little to no sound escapes out of these headphones, leaving other people around you undisturbed, while you are free to crank up your favorite tunes.

I got these just in time for a cross country trip. I sat in the rear of the cabin for both flights, where engine noise is most pronounced. These headphones did a very good job of suppressing the drone of the jet engines and allowed me to enjoy my in-flight DirecTV and iPod. While they do not have the fidelity of Bose (that cost many times more), they sound much better than iPod earbuds.
I owned an earlier version of the JVC's that were closed-ear. They did a slightly better job in the noise cancelling department. They also had a retractable cord, which while very convenient, eventually wore down the connections and had to be replaced.

I pair this headset with my Sony Z1U, because I needed a headset that will amplify the low level output from my camera. It does a good job of boosting the audio, and the last noisey event, it worked fine... other headsets may be better but for the price it is great!

Great headphones to use with iPOD and watching movies on a laptop while traveling.
While I'm sure there are better headphones you can purchase, for the money these are really great and do a good job of what they are advertised to do.

Haven't used it yet on an airplane or at the gym, but noise reduction will just be a plus. For people who can't tollerate ear-buds, or who are looking for on-ear phones with great sound- quality for mobile devices, this is a winner - especially under [$].
