The 16x9 Inc 169-HDSF45X-EX is a fisheye lens adapter for Sony PMW-EX1/3 camcorders. This 0.45x adapter allows the user to increase the angle of view by 55% at the wide angle setting of the main lens.

First when I mounted this lens on my EX-1R, I was pretty upset. It didn't really work in fact it didn't really worked at all. Spent few hours reading about this product, well there is NOT MUCH info out there to read...I have figured out, that you MUST turn MACRO setting ON in order to make it work! Unfortunately NON of those web-sites will tell you this info, not even [@]. What a shame, very BAD marketing...I believe this info should have been part of the instructions that didn't come with this lens. Anyways, basically this lens is pretty sweet, sharp up through to Z49, makes fantastic looking time lapses and special fxs.

I was 2 seconds from returning this lens until I remembered (instructions from another company) that I had to put the EX1R on the macro setting. The EX1R WILL NOT FOCUS without using the macro setting. This should have been part of the instructions that I didn't get with this lens! However, the picture looks very sharp with a deep depth of field. Auto focus and auto iris both work well. Peaking lines come through just fine ensuring a sharp picture. Zoom through is sharp up to Z50, after which it can not be focused. Overall, this lens works great with the EX1R and makes great special fx music video shots.
