The 16x9 Inc. 169-HDWA6X-EX is a 0.6X wide angle adapter. This attachment offers a top-quality and cost-effective method of obtaining wider angle images on a Sony EX series camcorder. With its single-element design and minimal barrel distortion, this lightweight adapter makes an excellent solution when shooting handheld video in tight spaces.
Note! While all single-lens elements have very limited zooming capabilities, the EXII 0.6X makes partial zooming possible with cameras that have autofocus capability.

The lens is awesome once you finally get it mounted!
I used it on a shoot where I needed a wider lens for
my Sony EX3. It's very light so using it with a
flo-pod worked out great! Very sharp lens!
The only draw back was very sloppy mount on the
lens, it was hard to lock the lens onto my standard
lens. The thread mount was sloppy as well, felt like
it was going to strip. Other then that, again, once on, nice lens for the money.

This WA adapter is lighter weight than others, so when attached to bayonet mount at front of EX1/3 lens it does not significantly change the camera balance. You do have to remove the lens shade and any threaded protective filter on the lens. When used with the stock lens at full wide angle, there is moderate "fisheye" linear distortion at the edges (looks like about a 21mm WA on a 35mm SLR). Though not a full zoom-thru, you can zoom about 1/3 of the way in and still be in focus, making it more like a 35mm WA. However, the autofocus struggles to hold focus with a live zoom-thu; better to use it at a fixed focal length as appropriate rather than live zoom.
Optical and build quality is good. I had some initial difficulty removing the adapter from the bayonet mount. Make sure your lens mount is clean before installing, and practice putting it on/taking it off before you are sitting in front of a client. Overall, seems like a good value for shooting tight interiors and unusual perspectives.
