This Impact Strobros Snoot for On-Camera Flash is part of Impact's line of Strobros accessories for on-camera flashes. Previously, it was difficult if not impossible to achieve the defined circle-of-light "spotlight" look that this snoot delivers, without studio strobes. With its ingenious mounting system that works with virtually any on-camera flash, this snoot makes it simple to get the studio look of a defined, narrow spotlight on location or anywhere you can take your camera and flash.

I've got 2-3 different snoots for my Speedlites and this one provides the most focussed light. So it's a keeper for that. The body of the snoot is pretty solid, though bulky as it does not collapse down (could do with the ability to telescope out). Didn't want to attach securely to my SB-800s (suspect it would work better with the bigger SB-900), but I added a bit of foam to the inside and it attaches just fine now. The Front grids don't attach firmly either. Suspect some electrical tape on their insides will fix this.

It's a snoot. It's made of, I think hard plastic & doesn't compact in your camera bag - this is now the bulkiest thing in my camera bag, bigger than the flash unit itself and it doesn't collapse or fold down.
I'm not crazy about the honeycomb grids - at near distances the honeycomb pattern is very prominent on the wall, and a far distances, it covers a wider area than I'd like (but that doesn't mean it'll cover a wider area than you'd like). I use it without the grid close up for some cool dramatic lighting effects.
The inside is black, which cuts down on the odd reflection that may spread the light more, but it also means you're not getting as much out of your flash as you could... but I guess that's the same for all snoots.
All in all, you could make this with a piece of cardboard and some duct tape, and that version would collapse down nicely & not take up any room in you camera bag. Plus it wouldn't have the bulky attachment mechanism that requires you put a rubber band around your flash head so that it has something to grip, or useless grids for you to lose. Plus you can make them to the exact size of your flash, they'll be lightweight so they're less likely to fall off, and you can make them any length you want for any size circle of light you want.

I like the fact there is two grids with the snoot. I own other snoots and I like this one most. I had to modify the adapter to fit my flash; it was easy. I do not have a speed flash.

Use mostly for macro work, some directional lighting on portrait or product work. This is an OK product, however the same result could be accompished with a cheap homemade snoot.

Directs light extremely well. Have used on a couple of shoots, and have to say it really works for a focused lighting technique. I was surprised with it's solid construction for the price.

This is a really nice snoot. Some will prefere a collapsible snoot to save space, but one of the benefits with this one is the possibility to use the grid accessories that it comes with. It is a solid construction, and it fits nicely to my Nikon speedlights.

I haven't used it really thoroughly yet.
But not really happy with it.
At least what i wanted it to do.
I wanted it to put a little spotlight on faces from 8-10 feet away.
the light goes to wide for that.
great build, solid, good quality.

Comments about Impact Strobros Snoot for On-Camera Flash:
I was somewhat doubtful, but this snoot does the job. It is metal. I expected plastic. The only plastic is the adjustable mount. That's the only reason I gave it 4 stars. It's a little tricky to keep on a shoe-mount flash, but it does what it is supposed to do. I used it with an old SB25 and a wireless remote, and got the hair light that I wanted!

I got this to modify a strobe as a hair light. It went on well and stayed in place. It comes with two press on grids that modify the light nicely. It has been very useful and was well worth the small price.

Really works as it is supposed to do. What I'm sorry is that I did buy it, but only one.
Of course that the snoot for normal studio lights works better, but it in a close room and lack of equipment, really does the work.
The thing that I regreat about it is that it didn't come with a cover, because the hole to insert into the flash, can damage other equipment if you don't isolated very good. Also, it is better to make a bag with some socks and it helps to keep the accesories with it.

I find this easier to use than the Honhl snoot material which tends to sag and not maintain correct aiming of light.
This snoot provides more accurate placement of light.
A fun tool for a few accent pictures with a different look.
