The Cavision RFD15SM is an Advanced Mini Single Wheel Follow Focus mechanism for your mini-DV / prosumer camcorder and can also be used with ENG lenses. It provides a convenient, quick, and precise method for controlling the focus on your camera without the need to constantly reach over to the front of the lens. Follow focus systems have become a staple of professional photographers and videographers needing to frequently adjust a camera's focus according to changing scenes; hence the name "follow" focus.

Overall this looks and feels great. High quality, almost no backlash / slop, and easily switchable. We used it for a 7D slr rig and works great. Very happy with the quality.
I'm giving it 4 stars for 3 reasons.
1. I wish the teeth wheel was a little larger. I'm going to need to buy another one to focus my lenses a little better. Makes fast focus pulls harder on some film lenses.
2. I was wondering how on earth do you adjust the second hinge by the rails? Well there is a little allen screw on the side of it to adjust. This is poor design because it requires a tool. I'm going to buy a thumb screw with the same threads to replace it.
3. I thought the top screw was for a wheel stop to not let the wheel slide all the way around on infinite focus lenses. It's not and I really have no clue what it's for. This was one selling point for me.
Other than those three things it's a great little follow focus especially for the low price.
I would have liked to see it have a 3D marking disk, but that's my only gripe. The adjustability of the arm outweighs this con.
However, the disc is really nice. It's basically whiteboard material so it should stay very clean for a long time. I've had other FF where the disk gets dirty after a while.

We bought this follow focus to use with our Canon 1D mark IV and a DSLR rig we have. Once set up, it performed flawlessly with our geared lenses. We are very happy about it and have no problems recommending it to others.
It is very flexible and can approach your lens from multiple angles and sides. It also shows minimal backlash with a nice heavy touch to it.
The only negative thing about it is it's a bit expensive, but so are all follow focuses and focus is critical.
So, if you are looking for a solid follow focus, but do not want to go all the way and buy one that can rival the cost of your camera, this is a good choice for you.
Just remember to get the correct gear on it.
Film Cine lens gear is 0.8, I think.
