I have been transferring my ancient record collection to digital and Profile LP is really easy to setup and use. The software is decent for beginners to medium level users. The only thing I don't like about the software is that it is married to iTunes, and you need to download and set that up before you can start. Afterward though, it is fast and easy to redo if you mess up. I recommend it.

This is a very easy turntable to set up and use. Plug it into a power outlet, plug in the USB cable, done. The turntable works just fine and is perfect if you are converting old vinyl albums to digital.
The included software, however, is not very good. The Mac version is too basic and feature limited. It doesn't even have a pause button. So, I don't use it at all. I use Final Vinyl (which I got for free from Griffin, which makes Mac products) and it works very well. Audacity is a free program that can be used to clean up things like pops and crackles. There are other programs out there that also will work with this turntable.
I would have given the turntable itself 4 stars but until the included software is improved I can't give it more than 3.

I'm a simple person that needs easy to use products. This is it. I haven't had a lot of time to fool around with it yet, but so far the set up was easy as pie (if u can make pie, if not, sorry), and hooking it up to my computer (and believe me, I'm not computer saavy), was a breeze. Sound is good, product looks expensive, playback was fantastic...come on...if u'r looking, buy it. I don't want to go overboard, but at this point, I'd recommend it!!!

I've been using this turntable since December 2010 now, and it has proven to be a great product. The conversion capability is useful and effective; the sound quality is great (I'm also no audiophile). I have my player connected to cheap computer speakers, and vinyls sound great! I'm not a prolific collector of vinyl at all, but my parents and I enjoy playing their favorites from the 70s-90s on it. I haven't tried new thicker vinyl records on this. Nor have I used the 45 adapter. Simple and minimalistic design that gets the job done!

Comments about Ion Profile LP - Vinyl-Archiving USB Turntable:
Does what it says it will - transfers LP audio via plug & play USB to my PowerMac G5 without issue. Good sound quality. My beef is with the software interface. The manual says the software will add a new track when it hears a pause, i.e., the next song on the LP. It does not do that. Maybe the Windoze interface does, the Mac one does not. Also, the Mac interface does not have 'orange' level bars as indicated in the manual - again, perhaps the Windoze version does but the manual does not spell this out. As a result, some recording transfers came out way too hot. It also has no function for flipping the LP over - you either have to create a 'dead' track while flipping or create two sides separately - not a huge deal but seems it could be easily solved in the software. Overall, happy with the device, because thousands of great LPs never made it to CD. It is frustrating to have to run the recorded files through another program to eliminate the pops and clicks.

Set up is easy. Does what it says it does. Not a high end turntable for an audiophile but will get your vinyl in digital format. Recordings sound great.

I bought this because I have several old wonderful record albums that are not available on CD. I was very surprised at the quality of the CDs I made using this turntable. Also, the whole process was very easy to understand. I am usually pretty dumb about these things but had no problems using this product.

Ideally I would have liked a replacement for my 40 year-old Garrard changer.
But this looked -and is- good as changers seem to be gone forever.
I almost didn't buy it due to two reviews which claimed distortion. Initially, I, too, had distortion as I plugged into "phono in" on my receiver/tuner. I concluded that the ION unit must have at least some kind of a pre-amp which old Garrard did not. So, all other receiver inputs being busy, I opted for line 2 input on my equalizer. Super result. I actually phoned a tech guy at the manufacturer who confirmed the existence of an amplifier inside the unit. I'm very happy with this unit although I have yet to try to convert LPs to CDs.

I use the turntable to, once again, listen to my treasured LP's.
The turntable comes with a long enough power cable but SO STINGY with the length of the RCA cables.

This USB turntable is great--good quality input and easy to use with a little help. I could not get the software to recognize the iTunes already on my computer and spent some time downloading it again and still no luck. Wrote a request to their website customer support and they told me to download the latest version of EZ Vinyl recorder from their website (I thought this would be useless because I had only just received the product and software!). Anyway, I did as they suggested and it works great. The only problem currently is I can't find the Audacity program that is supposed to be included with the product, so can't clean up the little bit of static on my recordings

Comments about Ion Profile LP - Vinyl-Archiving USB Turntable:
I bought this to copy a large number of vinyl records over the MP3 before I offload them. The software is simple to use - however, it will change your default playback device which will prevent you from hearing any other audio type until you change it. There's a disclaimer about this in the manual, definitely something to be aware of.
I'm a big fan of the simplicity of the software - not as big of a fan of requiring a local iTunes install to complete the rip, but it's not a tragedy either. Unfortunately, this model does not have a pitch control - so it's straight 33 1/3 or 45 RPM and that's that.
For the price, it's recommended. Setup could not be easier, audio quality seems fine, and the capture software is intuitive.

Comments about Ion Profile LP - Vinyl-Archiving USB Turntable:
We want to play and record to CD some of our old classical albums. Sound quality when connected to our amplifier is good. Recording on my iMac using Audacity was easy once I figured out the documentation. (Updates to that included free software are available at [@]). My only complaint is the short RCA stereo output cable rather than plugs in the back of the unit. I had to find and buy in-line connectors to connect to my amplifier using a standard male-male cable I had. For the money and our usage, a very nice product.

[...] Instructions were clear and the digital recording from an old, but treasured LP was better than I had expected. The Greek music provided was the hit of the show and now it's now conveniently available on my computer. It was worth the price. A quality product.

I use the product everyday to play all of my favorite music. The Profile LP also gives me the ability to record from the turntable, flawless audio in my favorite editing programs, and convert them into compressed audio files. Thus far I have not seen one shred of anything wrong with it. The functionality and the sleek design give it a very good feel, great for anywhere in your house.

This was a birthday gift for my boyfriend and he loves it. It was the perfect gift for a guy. He turned it on right away, and the sound quality its very good, no skipping. you can do it fast or slow or normal.
Once the LP finishes the stylus goes back in place and automatically shuts off.
The software it's easy to use, compatible for Mac or PC. This is just a great product for the price.
I'm not a DJ neither is he so for average use this is a great product, I'm happy. :-)
