After researching blogs and other Video oriented sites I decided on the TH-650 for my DSLR camera. My point of reference is the Vinten VIS-3. I knew you could not compare the two, yet the TH-650 is smooth enough for Video pans, workmanship is fine and the tripod is light. Perfect for field work. We shall see how it holds up.

Fixed height is very limiting.
Nice fluid head but you're stuck with the fixed height. As a wedding videographer, I need a tripod that can rise above standing people. This is the biggest drawback to this tripod.

Comments about Libec TH-650DV Head/Tripod with Brace, Pan Handle & Carrying Case:
I've been using this tripod for almost 4 years, primarily with a Sony XH-A1. It is fantastic! Very stable, but not too heavy, you can carry with you along with a backpack pretty easily for run and gun shooting.
Head motion and pans are very smooth and fluid-like, esp. considering the price point. HIGHLY recommended!
I also purchased its big brother - the 950DV, and like the 650DV much better. Easier to travel with and lighter.

Comments about Libec TH-650DV Head/Tripod with Brace, Pan Handle & Carrying Case:
For the price, it's a pretty good tripod. The panning was a little sticky and I wasn't too pleased with that. I've been using a LITH-M20 and haven't had a problem with stickiness, but unfortunately that one was no longer available and the TH-650DV was the replacement. Maybe with some use, the sticking will go away. Time will tell.

It was broken in less than one hour of use. It´s made of poor ceramic or something similar and fragile. It was a great desapointing. Look for a better quality product.

Liked the light weight, easy set up, good adjustability. Bottom leg stabilizers popped out of place during transit-easily popped back in. Worked adequately in first run out of the box to videograph 14 hours of a professional eduation presentation. Pan is a little stiff.

Comments about Libec TH-650DV Head/Tripod with Brace, Pan Handle & Carrying Case:
After using a cheapo monopod for DSLR video shoots I really needed a tripod for an upcoming project and fast. Didn't have a big budget so I checked out the Libec brand. This tripod was really great for the price. It has a clip at the bottom near the legs to keep them together while it's folded. The knobs are strangely positioned in my opinion but I haven't had the time or opportunity to adjust them to how they should be. Overall this tripod is very VERY smooth for the price. I highly recommend it. You can't go wrong with a Japanese brand.

Comments about Libec TH-650DV Head/Tripod with Brace, Pan Handle & Carrying Case:
I am starting in videography and plan to use the product for filming events.
The product is sturdy and stable. The levers and locks are easy and quick to turn. It's great that they include a carrying case.
I was surprised to find there is no way of adjusting height other than using the leg levers, which is time consuming. All other tripods I have had include a crank to make fine adjustments to the height of the camera after the legs are extended. They perhaps intend for the user to buy an accessory for this purpose, but I haven't had a chance to look into it.

Comments about Libec TH-650DV Head/Tripod with Brace, Pan Handle & Carrying Case:
This tripod is very easy to use and very fluid to navigate with the Canon XH A1 camcorder. I use the tripod to record and/or broadcast meetings. It is also used for outdoor recording as well and its great to use. Easy set-up and tear-down and the fluid head with bubble makes it easy to balance the camcorder. The quality is great without the high cost.

We purchased 2 of these 10 years ago. One recently broke however it saw ten years of hard student service during that time period and I am please with their perfomance. For [$] tripods they are pretty good. I found the head to be very smooth for the low price.
