The black BodyBag with Lens from LensCoat is a camera body and lens cover made from soft shock-absorbing neoprene. It is designed to hold a consumer/prosumer DSLR with 4.5" lens without an optional body grip. It protects a compact digital SLR camera body and lens from the nicks, dings and scratches of accidental impact. It also keeps the camera body and lens free from dust and dirt as well as protects it from the elements. The bag also has a removable front element protection disc made from rigid plastic and firm foam to further protect the lens from impact damage.
The BodyBag with Lens has a touch fastener closure that makes storage and access quick and easy. This version comes in a matte all-black finish to better blend in where desirable. Or, it can be used just for its protection value

I wanted the body bag for the sole purpose of protecting my camera when not in use. The pictures of the bag on the web site did not reveal all the details of its design and construction that I would have liked to see but I gave it a shot anyway. For my particular purpose, anything was better than nothing. I received the body bag and immediately noticed that there was not an attachment screw at the bottom of the bag to attach to the bottom of the camera like a normal carrying case would for DSLR's. It would have made it much more convenient if it would hang from the bottom of the camera (securely attached) while using the camera. As a consolation, it does have a strap that can attach to something, maybe somewhere on the camera but I didn't bother with it. The body bag was a tight fit but it is not at the fault of the design or the manufacturer. My D90 is a rather bulky camera to begin with (it has a 200mm lens) and to make matters worse, I already have body armor (pretty thick rubber) protection covering the body. After all that it still fits! I see no reason why the body bag would not fit perfectly on most, if not all stock DSLR's off the shelf. The body bag securely closes at the back of the camera with Velcro (very convenient). Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase. It definitely serves its purpose.

I bought this because I was looking for a neoprene version of a fitted case. Well, this fits the bill in the general sense I suppose, but most fitted cases I have seen (though leather) allow you to unsnap & pull the front down quickly to allow you to shoot without removing the entire case. This does not allow for that. It is either all on, or all off. That was a major disappointment for me, because I wanted to use it backpacking. If we happened across a wild animal, there is no way I could get this thing off quickly to take a shot. That being said, it does fit my eos7D with my 15-85mm S series lens nicely, and does offer good protection from minor knocks and dings.

Comments about LensCoat BodyBag with Lens (Black):
The LensCoat web site indicated that this was the correct BodyBag to use with a Canon 7D camera with a standard lens. I like the quality & how it is constructed, but it is really not the right size for use with my 17mm - 85mm lens on my 7D. The back of the BodyBag barely closes over the camera. The BodyBag stretches, but it is a very tight fit on this camera.

I have never had a body bag that I like as much as this one. Everything that I have had in the past is too heavy and cumbersome. This is lightweight, water resistant and forms to whatever lens you have on your camera. It even fit my 300 mm lens. I liked it so much I bought one for my daughter's camera too.

I purchased this cover for my Nikon D40 when I don't need to haul my entire camera bag with me. It is perfect for protecting my camera with an attached lens when it's inside my backpack. My largest lens is the 55-200mm and the cover fits perfectly over it - I'd say that a slightly larger lens would still fit, but not too much bigger. There is a small strap on the inside of the cover so you can attach it to something while the camera is in use. All in all, it's exactly what I needed!

Does what it needs to do, and does it well. Not bulky, but provides protection when I throw my camera in a purse, backpack, etc. Fits my Canon 40D and 28 -75mm zoom lens.

I bought this to use with my camera so that I could carry it in another bag when I didn't want my telephoto lens (like jut on vacation, or out around town with my child). I love that it protects the camera enough to put it in my purse. I've got a Nikon D90 without battery grip, but with a 18-105mm lens. It fits just great!

I have a Canon 40D and this cover is perfect. I don't like to carry my bigger camera bag every where, but I still want to protect it. This BodyBag gives excellent protection and doesn't get in the way at all. There is extra padding at the "nose" end of the lens area that offers great protection. The attachment strap could have a better placement or the ability to attach the bag using a tripod screw would have made this a 5 star product!

This is a good travel, and storage accessory. I keep my D90 in a padded backpack, but now I will use this too in concert.
I leave the camera in this around the house when I think I might want to shoot some spontaneous quick pics to protect from dust or any possible accident (there won't be any). It fits well with my 18-105 lens attached. I would have used it with my last trip out of country.
On the other hand, the Body Bag would be better if I could figure out how to use the camera with the bag partially on, partially off. That would increase utility.

I bought it so I could stick it on my D40 and just throw them in my purse and take it anywhere and everywhere.
Pros:
It's thin and not bulky, doesn't take up any more space than it needs to; keeps LCD screen from getting scratched
Cons:
Material is thin, so wouldn't help much if you dropped the camera

Have used this to protect my D700 when traveling light. Works well if you need a way to protect your camera if you had to put it in a travel bag or a back pack. Protected the camera against other items that moved around in my back pack during my last trip. Nice to have.
