- BD-Live technology will enable you to connect this player to the Internet to download such data as additional scenes, shorts, trailers, and to join in multi-player interactive games that are linked to BD bonus content contained in Blu-ray discs. This player offers an Ethernet port and a USB 2.0 port for easy access to BD-Live content. Note, optional Internet service and USB flash memory (1GB) are required to access BD-Live content.

- BonusView with Picture-in-Picture (PIP)
- The BDP-1 offers the ability to easily access (during live playback) additional Blu-ray content. Some BD-Video incorporates the PIP function in pre-selected scenes; BonusView enables you to display the secondary video source over the primary video.
- Multi-Format Versatility
- It offers a full-range of playback capabilities for enjoying movies, music and images. It's compatible with Blu-ray Disc, BD-ROM (BD-Live Profile 2.0), BD-R/RE, DVD-Video, DVD-R/W, DVD+R/W, AVC-HD, CD, CD-R/RW, WMA, MP3, and JPEG formats.
- HD Component Video Output
- It achieves greater color accuracy and high resolution playback capability when connected via the component output to your projector, plasma and/or LCD/CRT televisions. The BDP-1 has the capability to upconvert your standard DVDs to a 1080i HD video signal through its component output.
- AVC-HD Media Compatibility
- Enjoy the ability to play back your HD camcorder AVC-HD files in full HD resolution. AVC-HD discs encoded with x.v.Color (xvYCC) technology, an international standard for wide color space. It expands the current data range of video by about 1.8 times, resulting in more natural and vivid colors similar to what the human eye can actually see.
- Ethernet Port
- The built-in Ethernet port enable the BDP-1 to be updated via the Internet with future Firmware upgrades, applications and services, as well as for connecting to BD-Live.
- USB Port
- Plug your USB client device (flash drive or most external/portable USB hard-disc drives) directly into the player's front-panel USB input to play your favorite MP3 songs, WMA audio files, or view your JPEG images.
- WMA Compatibility
- This player is compatible with WMA files that are encoded by using the Windows Media Player version 9 or Windows Media Player for Windows XP. Files are recognized by their file extension 'WMA'.
- Progressive Scan Technology
- With progressive scan technology the BDP-1 is capable of scanning an entire video frame at once; scan-lines commonly associated with interlaced video are drastically reduced. The result is a spectacularly clear image with no motion artifacts (stair-stepping), and details so sharp they seem as if they're etched onto the screen.

- With an optional external infrared remote sensor (HE-1000A) you can finally close your entertainment doors, conceal the BDP-1 and still maintain full control with its IR remote control 3.5mm input/output connections. In addition, multiple components can be connected together (via IR I/O) in a daisy-chain configuration and operated with one infrared remote sensor and one remote control.
