• BD-Live 2.0 Ready: BD-Live technology will enable you to connect this player to the Internet to download such data as additional scenes, shorts, trailers, and to join in multi-player interactive games that are linked to BD bonus content contained in Blu-ray discs. This player offers an Ethernet port and a USB 2.0 port for easy access to BD-Live content. Note, optional Internet service and USB flash memory (1GB) are required to access BD-Live content.

• HDMI (ver. 1.3a) x.v.Color Processing: This unit features an HDMI (ver. 1.3a) output with x.v.Color processing, capable of reproducing exceptionally rich, vibrant colors, with smooth, detailed gradation and color banding. HDMI technology enables the player to carry the HD audio and video information through a single cable and achieving the highest quality picture and clearest sound available.

• 1080p HD Video Upconversion: This unit features an HDMI (ver. 1.3a) output that's capable of upconverting video signals to 720p, 1080i, or 1080p. This is achieved by utilizing an ultra high bandwidth digital-to-analog conversion and processing to detect image changes at the pixel level. It's capable of reproducing high-quality video imagery with sharp backgrounds, while eliminating motion artifacts from moving objects within the video frame.

• Full HD 1080/24p Output: Since most Hollywood Blockbuster movies are acquisitioned at 24fps, and Blu-ray disc movies are mastered at the same rate, this player offers a Full HD 1080/24p True Cinema HDMI pass-through output without video scaling or processing.

• Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD: If you have a 7.1-channel home theater receiver - you're in luck - this player is capable of decoding Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD audio. Dolby Digital Plus uses less compression than regular Dolby Digital to reproduce fuller and more dynamic sound effects with up to 8 discrete channels of surround sound.

• DTS-HD Master Audio: DTS-HD Master Audio supports bitrates up to 24.5Mbps, 7.1 discrete channels of 96KHz/24-bit audio, which is ideal for HDMI version 1.3a cables. This technology reproduces true-to-life audio the way the director intended.

• Blu-ray Disc Features: A Blu-ray disc offers superb picture quality beyond anything available. With full capability 1080p HD resolution in Blu-ray and up to 40Mbps, encoding 5-10X the capacity of regular DVDs. It also features theater-quality uncompressed audio (supporting 8 channels of Liner PCM), up to 32 streams of audio, interactive capability, seamless menus, integrated games, hi-def bonus and educational features.

• BonusView with Picture-in-Picture (PIP): The BDP-1 offers the ability to easily access (during live playback) additional Blu-ray content. Some BD-Video incorporates the PIP function in pre-selected scenes; BonusView enables you to display the secondary video source over the primary video.

• Multi-Format Versatility: It offers a full-range of playback capabilities for enjoying movies, music and images. It's compatible with Blu-ray Disc, BD-ROM (BD-Live Profile 2.0), BD-R/RE, DVD-Video, DVD-R/W, DVD+R/W, AVC-HD, CD, CD-R/RW, WMA, MP3, and JPEG formats.

• HD Component Video Output: It achieves greater color accuracy and high resolution playback capability when connected via the component output to your projector, plasma and/or LCD/CRT televisions. The BDP-1 has the capability to upconvert your standard DVDs to a 1080i HD video signal through its component output.

• AVC-HD Media Compatibility: Enjoy the ability to play back your HD camcorder AVC-HD files in full HD resolution. AVC-HD discs encoded with x.v.Color (xvYCC) technology, an international standard for wide color space. It expands the current data range of video by about 1.8 times, resulting in more natural and vivid colors similar to what the human eye can actually see.

• Ethernet Port: The built-in Ethernet port enable the BDP-1 to be updated via the Internet with future Firmware upgrades, applications and services, as well as for connecting to BD-Live.

• USB Port: Plug your USB client device (flash drive or most external/portable USB hard-disc drives) directly into the player's front-panel USB input to play your favorite MP3 songs, WMA audio files, or view your JPEG images.

• WMA Compatibility: This player is compatible with WMA files that are encoded by using the Windows Media Player version 9 or Windows Media Player for Windows XP. Files are recognized by their file extension 'WMA'.

• Progressive Scan Technology: With progressive scan technology the BDP-1 is capable of scanning an entire video frame at once; scan-lines commonly associated with interlaced video are drastically reduced. The result is a spectacularly clear image with no motion artifacts (stair-stepping), and details so sharp they seem as if they're etched onto the screen.

• Home Theater Friendly: Use the optical or coaxial digital audio output to connect the BDP-1 to your home theater receiver and enjoy your favorite BD/DVDs in surround sound.

• 24-bit Audio Processing: Its built-in 192KHz/24-bit digital-to-analog converter offers exceptional multi-channel audio conversion. By executing an accurate sound-field reproduction and reducing analog noise in the signal path, this unit is capable of reproducing an enveloping audio signal that is unsurpassed.

• IR Control Ports: With an optional external infrared remote sensor (HE-1000A) you can finally close your entertainment doors, conceal the BDP-1 and still maintain full control with its IR remote control 3.5mm input/output connections. In addition, multiple components can be connected together (via IR I/O) in a daisy-chain configuration and operated with one infrared remote sensor and one remote control.

• Expanding Technology: BD incorporates stringent licensing control, powerful encryption and other content protection. The Blu-ray disc technology offers the ability to copy its data-content to your compatible components. Also, it offers the flexibility to make managed copies across a home network to enjoy music and movies on your PC.

• Parental Lock: For parents who want full control of media content played back through player, the BDP-1's menu features a parental control and rating system adjustment.

• Multi-Language System: You have the ability to select language or subtitle preferences.
