This Delkin Devices shade actually comes with three parts: 1) a LCD protector with buttons that match the back of the camera; 2) the eye piece; 3) a detachable hood. The overall device can be installed easily onto the camera body by just removing the eye-piece and slot this whole device in. The buttons fit very well to those on the back of the body. So installation is a snap.
Since the device comes with an eye-piece already, you will have an extra one now.
With the complete shade installed, I do find it not very convenient that I need to pop up the hood to look at the LCD every time after I have taken the picture.
Fortunately, one can remove the hood while keeping the LCD protection screen on the body, which is what I do most of the time. When I need the hood, I just put it back on.
One note about the hood. It pops up easily - very nice. But to push it back down to the close position, it requires one to squeeze the two side support gently first, instead of just pushing the hood downward. So be careful.
Overall, it does what it is designed for. Given the price and the good usability of the shade, I find this accessory a nice addition to the 5D mk2.

Quite hard to fit on the eye-piece of the 5DII. It took me an hour to get it on. And if you're taking individual photos, the closed door makes it impossible to review the photos. When open, the door is difficult to close, requiring either two hands or a very coordinated effort with all the fingers on one hand. I bought the shade in order to eliminate the glare when taking video. If I took only video, the shade might be handy. But it does not help someone who takes stills and occasional video. Too hard to use. I've taken it off and don't plan to put it back on. That said, the overall quality of the product appears to be good.

Comments about Delkin Devices Digital SLR Pro Pop-Up Shade:
I use the shade for live view focussing and image review when shooting out of doors in bright sunlight. The shade provides great protection for the lcd screen, is easy to attach and detach from the camera, and makes viewing a little easier. I have two gripes: the screen does not improve the viewability of the screen to any great degree in bright sun and I have to keep opening and closing the shade when I want to put my eye up to the viewfinder. I prefer the Carry Speed hood which magnetically attaches to the camera, provides 2.5X magnification, and absolutely blocks sunlight from interfering with focus or review. Better product for about the same price.

Comments about Delkin Devices Digital SLR Pro Pop-Up Shade:
I purchased this shade as a replacement for my previous Delkin. Protects the rear screen as well as making it easy to preview in bright light. My previous Delkin Shade took the full force of a fall when my Canon body slipped off a tripod onto a concrete floor. The shade cracked with some parts coming off but the body came through it all without a scratch.

I bought this for Canon 5D mark II to protect the screen. I read that dust can go between the protective screen of this product and the cameras's original LCD screen. It should not be a big deal, just remove this screen protector, clean the LCD and put this back. Better still ( which I did) install 'invisible shield' from Zagg's and then istall this product - Double protection.

Comments about Delkin Devices Digital SLR Pro Pop-Up Shade:
I actually shoot more video with the 5DMKII than capture photos. I bought this pop-up shade to help me see the live view mode better while I shoot outdoors. This is only while I can gather up and get a broadcast quality monitor. I have to say that the pop up shade does it's job flawlessly.
Now, I did have a little trouble installing (like many other reviewers here) until I noticed that the prongs that slide onto the viewfinder are a little flimbsy. I slightly bent them on the first try and that hindered the ability of a correct install. I got a flat head screwdriver and pryed the prongs a little outward and PRESTO! It slid in and attached like a charm. I hope this helps you or others that has had trouble installing.

Comments about Delkin Devices Digital SLR Pro Pop-Up Shade:
When you have a small photo studio you often bump into props and lighting while doing set-ups and tear-downs. My biggest concern is something accidentally scratching the 3" display screen on the camera.
The Delkin pop-up shade allows complete protection without having to do any modifications to your camera...other than remove the rubber eyecup. The pop up shade is an added plus for outdoor shooting. But for me it's the peace of mind knowing the display screen is always safe.

best option for protecting the LCD from damage ... this is my second shade ... the first died protecting the LCD from a crushing blow that certainly would have cost more than replacing the shade!

Great for the sun, but you can't exactly take it off quickly for in doors, so your site is limited if you looking down to the camera. Kinda wish the shade was removable instead of the whole plate.

There is so much reflection in the glass that it is not possible to see anything on the screen in sunlight or if there is any lightsources nearby.
It is not possible to attatch it to the camera as described in the manual. Is is not possible to obtain a "click" when fasten it to the camera

One of the things I like about this unit is that you can snap the cover containing the pop-up shade off the unit and back on easily. This allows me to use it in both configurations while leaving the glass protector in place. Great unit.

I got this primarily to protect my LCD, which it does. Something I didn't know when ordering but love, is that the flip up hood pops off so you can just use this as a protector. It was a little hard to get on the camera, but works great now.

Comments about Delkin Devices Digital SLR Pro Pop-Up Shade:
This is my second Delkin shade; I had one for my original 5D. As others have said, it IS a little inconvenient, in that it interrupts the natural "flow" of shooting for me by not allowing me to go back and forth between the viewfinder and the LCD screen. I remove the shade portion (easy to do) and only put it back on while shooting outdoors...where the shade is very helpful in reviewing your work. Even with the shade off most of the time, it's helpful as a screen protector. And when you need that shade, it snaps back on easily.
So the review is mixed a bit. I guess I feel like it's a bit necessary to have under some shooting situations (think: "scenics"), but in hindrance in faster-moving situations (think "sports"). For what it's worth, the duplication of buttons is well done and doesn't impede at all.
