Comments about Olympus VN-6000 Digital Voice Recorder (1GB):
I was looking for a "dictaphone" to make notes to self and a low cost backup digital recorder to complement my video gear. I am pleased with the recorder. The external mic imput is a plus. I just wanted a tapeless dictaphone for "notes to self" and this unit is perfect and very low priced.

Comments about Olympus VN-6000 Digital Voice Recorder (1GB):
I use this product to record visits with tech people: I can't write fast enough to keep up with what they say, but I can replay a recording to recall what to do or transcribe the info onto a computer file. It's also used to help me remember things to do that I might otherwise overlook. What's great is a relatively simple operating system and a whole lot of recording time for such a small gadget. Heavy on "relatively," however: it's not the simplest of all, and there's not much on the gadget to aid you about operating details. It also can manage your recorded files: up to four folders and lots of messages for each. What's not so great is the accompanying directions: written by a non-English speaking person, there are grammatical glitches that stumped me at first.
Comments about Olympus VN-6000 Digital Voice Recorder (1GB):
Good things first: Great price with good features.
BUT.....
NO USB conectivity to the PC, CAN'T TRANSFER THE RECORDED FILES TO YOUR COMPUTER. Without it's ability to TRF to PC, it's usability reduces drastically.
