The iCarCharger 1000 for iPod and iPhone from Monster plays and charges docking iPod and iPhone models in vehicles that have an auxiliary audio input. Unlike cassette adapters and FM transmitters, adapters that go directly into your car's auxiliary audio input make a strong connection that results in excellent sound, no matter where you drive or how long you listen. The charger/adapter also features built-in iPod controls for safe use while driving, a 3.3 ft auxiliary out cable that coils inside the charger's housing, and a 24k gold 3.5mm line out for a solid connection to your vehicle's stereo. This device was used with my iPhone 3GS o/s 4.0. It worked great with sound and functionality. However in a couple weeks the phone would reject it or would not charge. My phone would get "hot" and I noticed that the blue light flickered. So I tried another outlet in my car, truck, power supply and got the same result. Other charging devices work just fine. I noticed that the cigarette adapter also started getting "hot" , not very thrilled.

The sound quality of this is horrible. I tried several ipods and 2 cars both with OE aux ins.
Music is almost unlistenable. The adaptor distorts on the slightest of bass hits, when a straight line out from the ipod is crystal clear.
This is a true disappointment.

I use this device every time I am in my car. I have a 2009 Honda Civic and it seems this device was made for my car. Easy to use even when driving and the sound quality is so much better than using just a stereo 1/8th inch cable. The audio buss directly out from the iPod is vastly superior to the audio jack. The device takes away volume control from the iPod therefore you just use the volume control of your sound system. The only downside is the cable that plugs into the iPod dock interface is a bit long and requires a little wrangling to keep the excess out of the way. Otherwise, a great product!
