The Aspire Timeline AS4810T-8480 Notebook Computer from Acer is an ultra-slim 14" notebook computer with a wide 16:9 aspect ratio LED backlit display. Designed with all-day computing in mind, the Timeline's energy-efficient design allows it to operate for more than 8 hours on a single charge.
The system is about an inch thin when closed, and weighs only 4.2 pounds. It is perfect for e-mail, school work, financial management, and entertainment. Its multi-gesture trackpad and comfortable keyboard make the computer a joy to use.
The system is powered by a 1.4GHz Intel Pentium Processor SU3500 CPU and boasts 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, a SuperMulti DVD burner, 802.11n Wi-Fi, and an integrated webcam. Graphics are handled by the integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD card, and Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit) is installed as the operating system.

Based on Principled Technologies' benchmark testing, using Bapco's MobileMark 2007 Productivity test. Battery life varies depending on product specifications, computer settings, and applications or features launched, and may be reduced if Windows Aero is enabled. The Acer PowerSmart button must be enabled to achieve the 8+ hours. All batteries' maximum capacity diminishes with time and use.

I've got this new laptop to substitute my old Toshiba with a dead battery. As my previous one, my main requests were: (1.) good screen brightness and not too small, as I use it for prolonged times, (2.) as light as possible, as I carry it around very often, (3.) good battery, for the same reason, (4.) good processor with good memory, as nobody deserves a slow computer.
This Asus Aspire 4810T has it all and is not as pricey as a Sony Vaio, whose few extra advantages did not convince me to spend almost double.
The only problem, and very bad problem, I've been facing in this first month of use is Windows Vista Home Edition. I've got Vista on my work laptop and it's no problem, but on this one it crashes incredibly often. I'm putting my hopes on Windows 7, as it can't get worse, otherwise next time I might surrender to a Mac.
