The 1TB Little Big Disk Quadra External Hard Drive from LaCie delivers high-performance in a portable package. Built for the professional on the go, the drive features a triple interface that allows it to be connected via eSATA, FireWire-800, FireWire-400 or USB 2.0, a large 16MB data buffer, a built-in RAID 0 controller, and fanless cooling.
The drive is bus powered when connected via FireWire and offers sustained transfer rates of up to 115MB/sec using eSATA, 85MB/sec using FireWire-800, 40MB/sec using FireWire-400, and 35MB/sec using USB 2.0. High performance does not usually go hand-in-hand with a portable package, but the Little Big Disk is an exception to that rule. This drive is perfect for anyone who needs to work with digital video, high-resolution graphics, or other performance-intensive applications on the go.

I debated whether to get this model, which is more expensive, or a less-expensive 1 TB LaCie hard drive. I chose this one, because I have to carry a ton of books in a backpack to class everyday, and the Little Big Disk (as its name implies) takes up less space and weighs less. When I see what my classmates bought -- how much more they're lugging around with them -- I'm so glad I opted for this model.
I'm taking a film editing class, and so far the hard drive is performing great! It is perfect for film class.
I also want to say a word about B&H. They were recommended by my first-year instructor, who has a long history with them. The level of customer service I received was beyond my expectations.

I mostly use this drive as a place to both store footage and as my portable editing drive. It is small and compact, which is great for an editor on the go or if you don't have your own editing suite. It is by far the quietest drive that I've ever owned and it can run without plugging into an outlet. I honestly could not find a complaint for the drive. It's fast, easy, and compatible with both PC and Mac. Highly, highly recommended.

I use this as the primary storage location for the large amounts of raw photos that I shoot. It is INCREDIBLY fast. And INCREDIBLY small given that it is a terrabyte RAID. It literally fits in my hand. (Not quite the palm of my hand, but close.)The fact that it has beautiful aesthetics is a nice plus, but not the reason I bought it. Oh, it's also completely silent. (Part of the design.)
I have not had it long enough to find anything wrong with it. I've heard some stories about LaCie having casing problems, but so far I have had NONE and I love this drive.

I have 4 of these drives as part of my workflow. I use one as a primary Lightroom Drive and I back up to Lightroom Back Up on separate LaCie.
I also back up internal hard drive to dedicated LaCie. I use Super Duper for these back ups. I use a dedicated LaCie as a travel Drive.

I use this as my laptop backup in studio and on location. This little drive is unstoppable and might be the most reliable drive I've owned and yes, I know it's a raid - that's what I like and what makes it fast.
I took it on a 4000 mile motorcycle trip on the back roads of Labrador and it was just fine. It's been over a year now and it's logged 15,000 miles of vibration along with my laptop and it's backed up my work every single day and it's never given me any trouble.
It has an eSata port but it must be powered via an external power source to use it and I've not found a reliable eSata card for the Powerbook so I just use it firewire. When it worked it was nice.
