I have been using the NEC since 5 years ago. I have 3 NEC monitors. My 5 year old 19 inch monitor still look good.(My wife is using it now) I still work on my 2470 model everyday. I use my Monaco Optix XR to calibrate a few times a year. Color doesn't change much and very stable. The 2490wu2 is my best investment. The calibration is so easy to use, just place the calibrator on the screen and click and the software will do the job. This Monitor's quality is very close to EZIO. It is really sharp and a big improvement from 2470. It's like getting 85% quality of EZIO Monitor but half of the price. I can work on it for hours and my eyes don't feel tired.

When the monitor first arrived I had difficulty setting it up, I called the NEC tech line and they just said they were going to send another unit. I should have called B&H and stayed with in their service coverage, but I thought I just needed help with the set up and that NEC would know the product best. So with out going into details I have not been impressed with NEC service, but I do now have a working monitor. My primary reason for buying this display was for photo editing and printing, so colour correctness is primary. The second unit started up and ran no problem, but had a strong pink hue to it. I used the sv calibration program and puck that came with the display, and continued to get a strong pink hue. After using the on screen display menu to reset to factory presets, it came out brilliant. Beautiful colour, tone, and uniformity. I think it is an excellent display for photo work, and have seen things in detail that my old display did not reveal. After calibrating again it returns to the pink hue, so NEC has recommended dialing in the correct temperature (no pink hue) by raising the white point setting in the calibration. I am not overly impressed with that either, the point of this calibration system is ease based on trust that the unit is correct out of the box.I have no complaints about my dealings with B&H, my order was processed and delivered quickly. I do not regret the purchase of the the monitor, it lives up to my expectations. The calibration system is another story in my case. I do regret calling NEC for that initial service call.As the review is technically for the monitor and calibration package I gave it three stars. The monitor alone I would give five stars.

Comments about NEC MultiSync 2490WU2-BK-SV 24" Widescreen LCD Display with Color Calibrator:
I really like this monitor a lot. I use it for professional level VFX work in feature film and broadcast work. The colors are very crisp and accurate after using the included calibration system.
The only thing I don't like about it and the reason I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 stars is that it has some wierd power saving mode thing where the monitor power light starts blinking yellow and the only way to 'wake' it up is to turn it off and back on. I haven't been able to troubleshoot this issue or find anything about it on the net.
Other than that I would highly recommend this monitor for professional consumers all the way down to everyday photographers or video editors.

Comments about NEC MultiSync 2490WU2-BK-SV 24" Widescreen LCD Display with Color Calibrator:
Prior to buying this I had been attempting to edit photographs on me Asus 21.5", after buying this I realize how far my Saturation and Contrast were off causing my edits to be inaccurate which I didn't realize till receiving this monitor.
As for calibration, it is quick and easy with no prior knowledge of whit values, temperature settings or any other such business being necessary. I told it I wanted to photo editing and put the puck in place, walked away to make dinner, came back to find it perfectly calibrated. Doesn't quite do full coverage of sRGB which it showed me with the provided Spectraview software. Reds/Blues are somewhat lost but not too significantly.

Comments about NEC MultiSync 2490WU2-BK-SV 24" Widescreen LCD Display with Color Calibrator:
I use this monitor almost entirely for photo editing, and it's great for that. I also found that that the calibration software is very easy to use-- even for a non-computer geek like me. I haven't yet printed from it though. The screen is easy on the eyes with the default settings, e.g. the contrast does not have a brutally high setting. As I do a lot of books, I'm hoping this LCD monitor will be the perfect one for me-- but I've done no books since I've gotten the NEC, but am confident and looking forward to it.

Comments about NEC MultiSync 2490WU2-BK-SV 24" Widescreen LCD Display with Color Calibrator:
I use it as my only desktop display monitor.
Non-reflective screen really helps with viewing and editing digital photo images. The IPS panel provides wide angle viewing which is a feature that all monitors that I considered had to have.
The sRGB color gamut of this monitor matches my DSLR images which I shoot using sRGB color space setting. No dead pixels - yeah! Images are clear and sharp, and better than any I have seen on a multitude of monitors and many retailers. The only monitor this sharp that I saw was the Apple Cinema display and it had a glossy, reflective screen. Color calibrator worked easily, and took less than 15 minutes to do the calibration, once it was set up. I have spent lots of time over the past few years doing digital photo image editing on PhotoShop. I became concerned with my old monitor that I might not be getting the colors right in the final image edit because that old monitor had not been properly calibrated.

This is my main computer monitor for my home computer/workstation. It produces a very nice picture that is easily calibrated with the provided calibrator. It works great for movie watching/editing as well as any other graphics editing. I play occasional games on it and they look wonderful on this screen and resolution. B&H provided great customer support on my purchase of this product, and got to be in a timely matter.
Only negative thing I have on this is that I have about 3 bright pixels on my screen and I have only owned it since April/May of this year. I have not tried to contact NEC about it yet, as the pixels are only noticeable on black/dark backgrounds. This would have been a 5 star monitor if not for the bright pixels being on my screen.

I'm a graphic arts professional. I recently bought this monitor as a upgrade from an older NEC model. I love it! The color range is fantastic & it's easy on the eyes. Even the faintest shades of color in a scanned image are plainly visible, while other monitors often white them out. Color calibration is a snap. You will not be disappointed with this monitor - your eyes deserve it!
