The Giottos MML 3290B Monopod is a 5-section professional class model made from aluminum, with 31/28/25/22/19mm diameter segments that makes it appropriate for use with large SLR telephoto lenses such as 170-500mm professional zoom models, a 300mm f/2.8, etc.
The MML 3290B's maximum height towers to 6'2", meaning that when the camera is attached it will reach the comfortable eye level of a person as tall as ~6'8" and can be used by anyone for shots that can get above the average visual obstruction of a crowd.
The MML 3290B has flip style lever locks, which could even be disassembled and cleaned in the field in an emergency situation. The top platform has a spring-loaded and reversible 3/8"-16 or 1/4"-20 threaded camera screw.

Comments about Giottos MML 3290B 5-Section Aluminum Monopod - Supports 33 lbs (15kg):
Used primarily with heavy long lenses. Solid Construction. Great for tall folks!
The screw-size (3/8ths and 1/4) capability is a bonus BUT NOT clearly explained in the directions. Knowing that Giotto often offers dual screw sizes I had to search for the way to change this. Took time to realize I needed to loosen and invert the mounting platform to do this. While attempting to loosen the mounting platform, I feared I'd damage it as it was on so tight. Giotto needs to explain this better - it's the only reason they're not getting five-stars from me.

I use this monopod to capture "aerial" photos, and it is amazing! It is lightweight, easy to use, durable, and very tall! If you are considering investing in a monopod, I would highly recommend this monopod. Also, considering its height, its folded length is good and easy to tote around.

I love this monopod cause I am a tall guy (6'6'') and this fits me well. It is sturdy and has a professional look.
I use it with the Manfrotto 234RC Swivel/Tilt Head with Quick Release. They are a perfect match!

Comments about Giottos MML 3290B 5-Section Aluminum Monopod - Supports 33 lbs (15kg):
After 30 plus years shooting "big" ENG cameras I've loved my EX3...except for those long days shooting handheld. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on some fancy system that added weight to the camera or length to it's already nice, smaller size.
This mono pod is AWESOME! Perfect size and strong. Wide enough mount on the top to securely attach my EX3 with no worries. Even better, I've been using one of those little flag pole holders used by folks marching in parades as an easy way to move around with the camera, have steady shots AND save my arms and back.
Even get some really high shots just holding the camera by the mono pod up over a crowd that were impossible to get in the past.
Another BIG plus is how tall this mono pod goes. Last minute arrivals at a crowded event are not a problem to shoot over others.
I shoot a lot of news, corporate events as well as a wedding here and there. The combination of the flag pole belt holder/holster and the mono pod have made me one happy camper. Google Flagpole holsters to see what I'm talking about.
Then you factor in the price and it can't be beat. I had concerns about the aluminum construction until I took it out of the box. Very well built. Nothing cheap about it.
So nice to have more stable shots in places a full size set of sticks just won't fit!
Sure, you can spend more for carbon fiber and such but...why? Take care of your gear and it will take care of you!
I'd recommend this to anyone who shoots professionally!

I am into macro & wild photography...so there are many situations where i can't use tripod. At same time I don't have enough time to set the tripod if situation allows you to use tripod.
So I have decided to use this monopod, its works great, most of the lens weight is over, handshake is reduced by 80%.
Since I am 6.2, I choose the bigger one, it gives me the advantage to shoot the overhead birds and will keep you study(no need to bend on knee or back)..its bit heavy compare to carbonfiber but very solid, rigid and last long product.

Comments about Giottos MML 3290B 5-Section Aluminum Monopod - Supports 33 lbs (15kg):
Used to support a gripped Canon 7D with a 300mm F2.8 lens for night football games.
The height is exceptional. I'm 6'2", and it's taller than I need.
The cam clips are easy to use, QUIET (a big bonus, especially compared to my older tripod), and sturdy.
There is a little flex in it, although I don't feel like it affected performance unduly. It would be nice if the rubber foot screwed up to reveal a metal spike (as is the case on my older Manfrotto tripod's legs).

Comments about Giottos MML 3290B 5-Section Aluminum Monopod - Supports 33 lbs (15kg):
My initial reaction upon extending this monopod was it's size. I'm 6'2" and I can use it with my DSLR comfortably with only 4 of the sections extended. The fifth section gives you a lot of play for positioning the height of the camera.
I was ignorant of the fact that I needed to flip the screw in the mounting platform. Of course this could not be done without the accompanying Allen key. So be sure to verify that you have the correct screw in place before you're out on a shoot. (Lesson learned the hard way)

Comments about Giottos MML 3290B 5-Section Aluminum Monopod - Supports 33 lbs (15kg):
The unit is well built and the height adjustment is easy to use and the adjustments are secure. My only complaint is that there is no discussion on how to switch the attachment bolt to the 1/4" variety. The round disk is a hex wrench as well as the mounting plate for the camera, or lens. When you turn the round disk counter clockwise it takes out the mounting bolt which is then flipped over to use the 1/4" threaded bolt. It is a pretty neat setup but it would be nice for the instructions to show this. The allen wrench has nothing to do with making this change.

I use this for weddings and sports photography, it saves my arms from having to hold heavy lenses up for hours on end. Very sturdy and well built. Comes with a small allen wrench to change mounting screw from a 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 (took me a minute to figure that part out).

I use this mono-pod with my 7D and long zooms, it's very solid and being 6'4" I needed an extra tall pod. This one extends high enough and then some. The clamps operate quickly and smoothly and hold well.

Excellent monopod: light, strong and very tall!
I had to tighten one clamp (which are probably the weakest spot) that was a bit lose (with the provided tool). That was all and now it works perfectly.

I am using this monopod with my EF 500mm to hold at the ready between shots. I also have a ballhead mounted on it to use for wildlife action and birds in flight. I can still pick up my rig for handheld shots when needed. This things extends out to over head height and I am 6'-1" tall. I do not even notice the weight, but I do notice how sturdy this unit is.

The instant I took this out of the box I began to smile. Not having a "hands on" store locally, I ordered here and hoped for a good product. Well, it's a great product! Solid, extends over 6' for any awkward situations, the sections are magically clamped by thumb levers-very tightly, and it's pretty! I am using it for lens stability and as off camera flash mount. Throw an umbrella adapter or speedring on it and work away. All I can say is amazing product at the right price!
