I bought two types of umbrellas. Bought that zumbrella. That garbage broke on the 2nd use. It really is very translucent but worthless as far as quality goes. Only two uses out of it. I bought some auction quality umbrellas, those outlasted that BS Zumbrella!!!! Bought this umbrella, is not as translucent but is far more heavy duty! I really like the quality of this umbrella. Highly recommend it to the folks that are looking into buying a high quality white umbrella hands down I rate it 5 stars.

This is a replacement. The first suffered wind damage and thankfully took the blow and protected my flash and PW in the fall.
The shaft of my prior umbrella (same product) was hollow and broke with the fall. The shaft appears to be solid or thicker with the one I just received. That's an upgrade.
The prior umbrella had a soft cap for a point, this one has a metal point. I will have to be more careful with it in positioning it near subjects. That's a drawback.
Overall very nice even light difussion and sturdy product.

I got this umbrella to use as a type of softbox. I will also use it as a screen to block sunlight outdoors.

I use this product in the studio and on location. Works great in both applications, but especially great for location work, because of it's compact size.

Let it rain...or give me a tough shoot to light--I believe this umbrella will handle both situations equally well. For the money, you can't beat it. Plus, it feels a bit more substantial in construction then a couple of its close competitors. Wescott delivers, again.

Very soft flattering lighting when I shoot a flash through it. Could be sturdier, but fine for the price.

I looked around for a white umbrella & found out most umbrellas can't take more than 500 watts of flash or continuous power ! BUT this Westcott 45"
optical satin white umbrella can take 1000 watts !
So if you have 1000 watt quartz halogens or do a lot of flashes at a photo session, this umbrella will not discolor, it stays satin white. Great product for bounce or shoot thru ! 99% of the time I use it as a shoot thru to get those soft lighting effects. I would buy it again & again !

Pretty low price but they work well so far. Portraits, two-light+two-umbrella formals for weddings, product shots (shoot through). Very bright 'optical white' umbrellas work well for what I've done with them so far, and don't cost an arm and a leg.

Westcott makes a great product and this 45" umbrella is no exception. The light is diffused well. The build quality is fine. I'd say better than the any of the other comparable umbrellas I've seen. Also consider the 43" collapsable Wescott if portability is an issue. Perfect for head shots.
