The Joby Gorillapod SLR Zoom Tabletop Tripod w/ BH1-01EN Ballhead is a combination of their very strong "SLR-Zoom" model Gorillapod with a perfectly-matched ballhead capable of supporting the weight that the legs can hold well.
The Gorillapod is a watershed item in camera supports, an original which has been extensively copied. Like most times this happens, the original does have some advantages in quality.

Gorillapod has a very good reputation, but I was still skeptical that it could support my D700 with the Nikon 70-300 Zoom.
But, it is more secure and steady than I expected, especially considering the weight I asked it to support. Grips securely onto small tree limbs, fences, door/door knobs, back of chairs, car windows, as well as using it as a tripod with the legs extended.
When using slower shutter speeds, I suggest using a remote trigger or the camera's built-in timer.
Excellent for travel. I wish I had bought this prior to a recent trip to the U.K. I carried a full size tripod around the countryside but could have accomplished 90% of my shots using the Gorillapod SLR-Zoom Flexible Mini Tripod.
Get this model that includes the ball-head unless you have a spare ball-head laying around the house. You won't be happy screwing your camera on and off the 1/4" screw each time you want to use it.

Without going into the purposes of why I bought the Gorillapod, I'll start with what the shortcomings were.1) the legs IMO aren't quite long enough to secure the pod to anything larger than say the diameter of your forearm (as a reference). Still very useful for creative angles and positions other pods can't allow for on small tree limbs, chair legs, fence post, etc.If they were just a little longer I think it would allow for a larger wrap giving more stability for DSLR cameras.2) the base plate keeps rotating on the camera body making it difficult to use the built in level. I have to continuously re-tighten the base plate screw. These are built for DSLR camera's, not going to bother me if it has a larger base plate so that it doesn't rotate. 3) its a chore to get all the legs straight again after you wrap the flexible legs around something. There are so many joints on the legs that each one has to be re-straightened - not a quick fix but what else can be done to flexible bendable legs?I do like the product however, it is sturdy for stationery shots, allows for angles you normally couldn't have, very lightweight so it can go with you anywhere. It scuffs up extremely easy[...]I've used mine on one occasion and it has already lost a lot of the coating on all of the gray rubber bumpers up and down the legs.

This tripod is great! It holds my Canon 60D with EF-S 18-200/3.5-5.6 IS lens attached sufficiently. You can attach it to almost anything or even use it at almost ground level. It is very sturdy and the ball head is well attached. Had read a review that it came off easily and could be lost, but I can't see that happening with the one I have. Definitely worth having the ball head, and it even fits the large tripod we have. The best part is that the GorillaPod is so portable, making taking a tripod with you a breeze.

Have used the SLR Zoom Gorillapod for a few weeks now holding an EOS 60D with battery grip and a variety of lenses. Holds it all up pretty good once you get it planted solid. Legs are breaking in now and adjust fairly easily. Lightweight and fits in my daypack good. No complaints.

I love this tripod! The fact that it can bend in many ways is amazing. I also like how low it can go. I normally use my large Manfrotto tripod for pretty much everything but there are times when I want a low angle but cannot hold the DSLR steady so this bad boy becomes very handy! Attach a Manfrotto quick release adaptor or any other kind of quick release and you're ready to shoot any time and anywhere.
I love how light and durable the tripod is. It can pretty much bend right in half and it'll fit anywhere in my camera bag. You can wrap it around anything as well and use it as a stabilizer for a light weight video camera such as a GoPro.
Great stuff Joby!

Since I don't have room in my bags for a monopod or tripod this is the perfect compromise. Great build quality, super functionality, and easy to use. The ballhead and quick-release plate work like butter. This easily supports my D7000 with the 18-200 lens, and it fits nicely in my Lowepro Passport Sling bag. Great product.

This is great for travel. I used it on a recient trip with great results. For use as a tripod an anchor point, or just help to steady a larger lens it worked great. I only gave it 4 stars as the legs could be a few inches longer to go around a larger base.

The Gorillapod does what is expected of it. Holds the camera nice and steady when attached to a tree or fence post. Great to use in areas where normal tripods are not normally used. I don't have any really heavy lenses so stability hasn't been an issue for me. It might be is you have a very heavy and long telephoto lens though.

I recently purchased the Gorillapod with the ball head and so far I love it. It is more flexible than one I already had of another brand. I am a wildlife outdoor photographer and this works great for use with my Flip Video camera as well as my smaller point and shoot. I have not used it with my Canon DSLR camera yet...I am looking forward to using it this spring for macro photography of wildflowers and bugs.

Strong enough to support a heavy DSLR with a medium zoom lens. Unsurprisingly, it's not as rigid as a tripod but, with care, will do the job.
