The Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM Autofocus Zoom is a super-wide angle lens with a maximum aperture of f/3.5 throughout the entire zoom range, ensuring high image quality. The maximum aperture of f/3.5 allows enough light in to make it a great choice for indoor shooting as well as landscapes and creative portraiture.
With its wide angle view from 102.4 degrees, this lens can empower the photographer to produce creative images with exaggerated perspective. This lens has a Super Multi-Layer coating that coating reduces flare and ghosting. With a HSM (Hyper-Sonic Motor), the lens operates quietly and at high speed in both autofocus and full-time manual modes.
The lens design incorporates an inner focusing system which eliminates front lens rotation, making the lens particularly suitable for using the Petal-type hood, reducing extraneous light and reducing internal reflection.
Two ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion) glass elements and a SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass element provide excellent correction of color aberration. Four aspherical lenses provide correction for distortion and allow compact and lightweight construction. This Sigma lens has a minimum focusing distance of 9.4 inches (24cm) throughout the entire zoom range and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:6.6.
Note! Vignetting will occur if the lens is used with 35mm SLR cameras or digital cameras with image sensors larger than APS-C size

When I first got my hands on a 10-20mm super-wide angle zoom, I was already impressed with it, even though that model was the f4-5.6 version! Then, not much later, this new version came out and I knew I had to get it with the fix f3.5 value! It is a great lens for a variety of purposes! Huge buildings inside and out, parks, wide areas, all just get swollowed up with this glass! My Times Square photos show a much-much larger view than with my standard 18mm lens. Quality is great! Focus is fast, indoor photography is also much easier with the f3.5 speed. It is wider, larger and heavier than the f4-5.6 version, but well built and feels very confortable. Buttom line; If you never had a super-wide angle zoom, get this one, 'cause you're gonna to love it!

I've been shooting this lens for about a month and really love how wide it is and the fixed aperture throughout. However, coming from a nikkor 12-24, this lens doesn't quite cut it. It is pretty soft (especially around the edges) and the chromatic aberration in back lit subjects is pretty bad. The focusing if fine and the build quality seems great, but the jury is still out on this one for me.

This lens is the perfect fit for what was missing in my lens array. Sigma has really stepped up their lenses to make them competitive with Nikon. The 10mm is great!

I love the images that this lens produces. However, it doesn't auto focus without some hesitation on my nikon. I did some research and found this is a common issue with sigmas and nikon bodies.
If I had known this, i might not have purchased this lens. But i do like it. It just is kind of finicky when you are auto focusing.
It's almost fish eye in quality too at 10mm. Which is great.

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM Autofocus Zoom Lens For Nikon Cameras:
I bought this ultra wide for my D80 and it does exactly what I needed it for.
I had been using the 18-55 kit lens for a long time and found that landscape shots were missing that really deep look. I also struggled taking shots indoors where I wanted to show the entire scene. Museums, historical villages, airplane hangars, etc.
I bought this lens knowing that UW lenses suffer from vignetting and distortion and this lens is no different. But like anything else, I use this tool for it's intended purpose and don't expect it to take great portraits zoomed wide. Vignetting outdoors in bright sky is acceptable and distortion easily managed.
I have taken a few dozen pics and haven't noticed any distracting noise or chromatic aberrations. I would guess if I tried to print a 36" pic at 400 or 800 ISO I would see some noise - but again - I'm not using this screwdriver to hammer nails.
I did struggle between this lens and the Nikon version (12-24mm)...I eventually choose this one for two main reasons: The extra 2mm turns out to be a useful feature. I bought a new house and getting really wide to show the entire room was great. Also, this was the right lens for my very limited budget. I couldn't justify the extra expense for an amount of clarity I was not sure I would really appreciate or even notice.

I'm using this lens with my Nikon D300 in a Subal underwater housing with a Zen dome port. I have not found any distortion or vignetting. The lens focuses fast and accurate. I'm enjoying using this lens for my wide angle underwater images.

I use this lens on HDR photography. It gives me plenty of area to work with, especially in tight rooms. So far I have used this lens on a couple of sunrises and a couple of rooms at a friends house and have had no problems with this lens.

From the first shots I took, I knew I picked a great lens. For the DX camera owner, this is the wide angle to get. You might ask yourself if it's worth the price of the lens for that extra 8mm your kit lens doesn't offer, but you'll be surprised what that tiny number actually means to the angle of view you get. The focus on this lens is extremely fast, even on camera bodies that don't have a focusing motor (D3100, D5000, etc), and the lens can focus at a very close distance.
As of right now I have nothing bad to say about the lens. It does everything I want it to do, and I can't wait to use it more and more.

Absolutely wonderful lens! I used it when I traveled back to PA for a large wedding shoot and it served more than its purpose along with my Sigma 70-200 & Sigma 24-70. They all work great on my D-90. I also shoot alot of landscape photography at the Grand Canyon and you couldn't ask for a better lens. No other lens belongs on my Nikon except a Sigma! Thanks Sigma and B&H.

works amazingly well in low light, and autofocus responds rapidly with the Nikon D5000 (when not in LiveView) - in LiveView, the autofocus responds noticeably slower.

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM Autofocus Zoom Lens For Nikon Cameras:
After doing a considerable amount of research including testing several lenses such as the Tokina 11-16, 12-24 DXII, and Nikon 12-24, I had determined that the Sigma was the right fit for me and so far I'm confident that I made the right decision. As an architect venturing into some architectural photography along with some landscape and social photography, I was looking to find a wide zoom with the ability to capture images in low light with low distortion and good sharpness. This lens has met all this criteria for me, and has so far proven to be very sharp in the center, although losing sharpness at the corners as with any wide zoom. The glass is extremely impressive, showing VERY little CA and glare while also controlling distortion very well for a lens with such a wide range. Being my first Sigma lens, I am extremely impressed with the build quality and will expect this lens to last a long time.
If your a budget conscious photographer looking for a solid wide angle zoom with good low light performance on your DX camera, I'd highly recommend this lens. Although I really enjoyed shooting with the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8, I found that the small zoom range was restrictive for shooting architecture and landscapes, and the physical size of the Sigma is a bit more manageable.
