The Hahnel Innovative Accessories HC-400D BatteryGrip is designed for the Canon Rebel XTi (400D) & Rebel XT (350D) digital cameras. The grip allows you to use with 1 or 2 Li-Ion batteries, even if they have different charge levels. You can also use the AA battery tray to power your camera with Ni-MH AA batteries only. Camera handling is improved with a lower point of gravity with the BatteryGrip in place, especially when long focal lenses are used.
The included Infrared remote control can be used to activate the built-in infrared receiver on the camera body up to 39' (12m) away. The remote control transmitter provides autofocus before shutter release and continuous shutter release or bulb function for as long as the button remains pressed.

So far, looking good. Includes a remote control that i haven´t been able to use with my camera but it could be that it´s too old, it´s a Canon EOS Rebel XTi. I like the fact that comes with the possibility to use the camera with regular AA batteries (even though it will make the camera very heavy)

This not only extends battery life, it also makes the xti so much better to grip and hold with all four fingers, especially when shooting vertically. Importantly, it gives you an additional emergency pack that can be stocked with alkaline batteries, if your 2 Li batts run out.
Well designed and fits in easily. The hardest part is just removing the existing battery cap from the camera.
It does increase the weight of the camera significantly but what it gives in exchanges seems more than worth it.

The package promise a Vertical Shutter Release, but is not there. The remote does not work with this product and I tried different ways to make it work without succes.
But it still gives a better grip for the Camera overall and allso more battery power if your have installed extra batteries in the gripbox.
The lower rating is given for the price vs. the function it promise

It doesnt have a vertical trigger but otherwise works well in allowing you to shoot for longer periods of time and the ability to switch to AA batteries.
