The Hahnel Innovative Accessories HN-D60 BatteryGrip is designed for the Nikon D60, D40 & D40x digital cameras. The grip allows you to use with 1 or 2 Li-Ion batteries, even if they have different charge levels. You can also use the AA battery tray to power your camera with Ni-MH or alkaline AA batteries. Camera handling is improved with a lower point of gravity with the BatteryGrip in place, especially when long focal lenses are used.
The included Infrared remote control can be used to activate the built-in infrared receiver on the camera body up to 39' (12m) away. The remote control transmitter provides autofocus before shutter release and continuous shutter release or bulb function for as long as the button remains pressed.

This product fits my D40x perfectly, attaches firmly, matches the finish of the camera, and does everything I wanted it to do. It comes with a remote shutter release, which I have not yet used. I have no complaints about the unit, and I'd recommend it to other D40x users.
