I have owned 3 pentax cameras, k-x,k-r and now the k-5. I have used many many differnt lenses on all 3 cameras and i have to say this is one of the worst lenses i have ever used. The only good thing other than the colors is the WR. It may be a bad copy, I dont know but im returning it for the sigma 50-200 hsm, os lens. I have owned the sigma before and it was head and shoulders above the pentax 50-200mm wr.

Recently purchased for some wedding shooting. Great pictures from across the church and not much bigger than the kit 18-55mm lens.

Comments about SMC Pentax DA 50-200mm f/4-5.6 ED WR Zoom Lens:
Due ti its compact size, light weight, weather resistance and better than average optical quality, this lens is a really good choice for all general field applications. From family outings to grand landscapes; install this lens and leave it on. Quick, quiet focus and easy zoom allow for great candids and while the 4-5.6 apature limits indoor use, this range isn't an indoor fit anyway. Great compliment to the 18-55 giving 95% of us everything we need.

Comments about SMC Pentax DA 50-200mm f/4-5.6 ED WR Zoom Lens:
I gave my wife my *iSTD Pentax when I moved up to my K20D. I also bought a 75 to 300mm to go with it. Every time we're out shooting together, she wants to borrow the 75 to 300 and from that point on, I never see it again. So I got this lens just for her. It's just long enough to suit her and tough enough to take her abuse.

Comments about SMC Pentax DA 50-200mm f/4-5.6 ED WR Zoom Lens:
I have been shooting pictures with Pentax cameras since 1970's.
This lens exemplifies what Pentax lenes are all about, clear precise pictures, durable and versatile.
I take a wide range of pictures from events to nature, people. The Pentax lens and equipment excel in every area.
If your looking for a non-professional type lens, look no further. Joe Busch, NY

Truly water resistant. Did not intend expose to extreme conditions but lens and camera (K10D) got soaked and splashed multiple times and survived during spring break at a Wisconsin Dells water park. Happy to use as a walkaround lens.

Nice light weight lens that is a good focal length for me to carry on trips. I also like the WR for when my wife and I are hiking to see her waterfalls. This is a lot of lens for the money.

Have used previous version of this lens (not WR). It was really good for it's price. This one is step forward. Rain, snow, drops of mud aren't problems now.

Comments about SMC Pentax DA 50-200mm f/4-5.6 ED WR Zoom Lens:
I purchased this lens to compliment my other Pentax low end zoom and find that it does the job. For the price, it delivers sharp photos that are not at the level of a pro lens, but after all it's a consumer lens. I find that all I need are two Pentax zooms to cover my full range of photos and both easily fit with my Pentax digital SLR camera in a small case.

Great lens, exactly as advertised. I wish I had bought the camera with this lens instead of the stock lens (28 to 55 mm)but now I have both. Easy to focus. Perfect for the camera body.

Comments about SMC Pentax DA 50-200mm f/4-5.6 ED WR Zoom Lens:
This lens is a great fast focusing, sharp lens. I have been using this lens to take bird photos for the last few weeks and it does a marvelous job. the greatest advantage of this zoom is its size. It breaks down to being only a 1/4 inch longer than my 18-55 zoom kit lens. I also like that is allows manual focus with AF on. The only con is no macro and its shortest focusing range is about 4 feet.
