Pentax PH-RBC 52mm Lens Hood
The Pentax PH-RBC 52mm Lens Hood is for use with Pentax 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Lenses. The "petal" shape of this lens hood maximizes the amount of hood coverage for the minimum amount of weight and hood area. Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

This hood fits my 18-55mm WR lens quite nicely, although it locks 90 degrees from the orientation in which my original hood locked (???). My main concern is that the tiny tabs used in locking the hood look quite fragile and I have some concerns in its durability and longevity.
