I did purchase the light for use with my Canon 5D Mark II's video capability. It does an excellent job of even light out to 20 feet as claimed. Actually, with the camera's high ISO capability, it is useful beyond that although I have not measured maximum distance. Sometimes I find the need for more illumination.
But I am writing to highlight a second excellent feature of this LED light. Because it is steady it is valuable in live view focusing in situations where the light is too low to see well.
The item is lightweight, far lighter than my Speedlight 580EX II, and does provide illumination for approximately an hour on standard alkaline batteries. I sometimes use rechargeable LiMH batteries, getting a shorter period of illumination, but lower overall cost when being used frequently.
I have two minor complaints:
1) It arrives without any instructions -- strange.
2) The yellow filter has protective paper so firmly attached that I had great difficulty removing it without scratching the plastic.
I didn't give it five stars on the basis of the two complaints above and I think the output would be more useful if it were higher, say 50 or 60 watts.
Overall, I highly recommend this product.
P.S. Upon reviewing the above, I found that my Pro "Steady, broad illumination" had the "n" truncated owing to limited space. Didn't want you to think that I had a typo. Also the Con is "Getting paper off yellow filter."
