Comments about GPX TL709B 7" Compact Television:
For along time I am looking for a monitor for my wedding video business, especially when doing in the church, and my camcorder sits high on the tripod and its dolly. It is too high for me to look at the small monitor of the camcorder (It is the Sony DSR-250).My needs are: 1) a monitor must have an built in battery (I only need about 2 hour of recording in the church) 2) It must have a video input and 3) it must have a 1/4" 20 thread screw on the bottom so I can attach this monitor to the tripod. With a full charge it runs exactly 3 hours, this is what I need for my business. This GPX monitor has exactly what I need and its price is dirt cheap. Normally with all the 3 conditions that I am looking they would charge at least from $250 to $1,000. (I am very limited on budget)I don't need a good monitor, just a monitor to show me what I am recording (I don't care for color, or sharpness). I order this one from B&H for [$]a very good deal, but...just yesterday by chance I passed by [...] here in Phoenix, it is on sale for only [$] so good for the price, so I bought a second one as a back up, to use for my wedding video business just in case the first one goes bad!For short, anyone in the wedding or event video business should get this baby, it is dirt cheap.

Now granted I bought this for something it wasn't specifically made for, there were some things about this TV that disappointed me.
I bought this TV as a extra monitor for my camera. To help pull focus. I really just wanted to see how well it held up in that respect.
The First thing I noticed was that the pixels are huge! Now the packaging says "Supports 720p" but by the looks of the screen I think it means "you can input 720p but we are going to down sample it to 240p" It never actually states the actual pixel dimensions of this screen but it doesn't look like 720 at all.
Second thing, the color... ugh it's pretty horrendous actually. The contrast is cranked but strange. dark grays are black and blacks are dark purple... You can slightly correct this by dialing back the contrast and adjusting the tint so that skin tones at least look human. But it's still awkward.
Third, not a biggy but, the audio from this unit would be almost inaudible in a running car. The speakers might as well be headphone speakers. Now this doesn't bother me because I probably will not be using them. But now you know.
Also I wouldn't plan on looking at this screen for extended amounts of time. There is something weird about the screen that makes my eyes feel fatigued after just a few seconds of looking at it... can't quite place it yet.
over all it's not that bad but beware it's not awesome either.
