Tascam CD-A550 Rackmount CD Player/Cassette Recorder
The CD-A550 from Tascam is a professional-quality CD player and cassette recorder, ideal for use in retail spaces, houses of worship, and other installation applications. The CD player has a smooth tray-loading drive and is capable of playing back standard CDs, as well as data CDs encoded with MP3 or WAV files. CD-Text and ID3 tagging are supported for track identification. The cassette drive features auto-cue, auto-reverse, and Dolby B noise reduction for high-quality recording and playback.
The player makes it easy to dub audio from a CD to a tape, or connect to external speakers or a recorder. The rear panel has analog RCA I/O connectors, as well as a digital coaxial output for the CD player. Other useful features include power-on play and record, mono mix, and pitch controls for CD and cassette. A wireless remote control is included to give you full control over player functions.

I installed this unit in our church for play-back only and it's easy to use. I like the cue feature for cd's and being able to run the cassette and cd output through one cable to the mixer just makes things easy and less chance for mistakes during a performance. I would have been nice if the control buttons were back-lit for night time use.

I really like the pitch control on both the Tape and CD player. The auto reverse CD dubbing feature is great. Start up of the the tape produces virtually no "wow" when play is pressed.

I use this deck to play "multi-track" accompaniment music for our church choir rehearsals and performances. It does a great job and looks good, too. It has all the features I needed and even some others that I had never had available before like the "A-B" repeat function. I would definitely recommend it.
