I normally shoot macros and wildlife with a D700 and long lenses. I got the S570 so that I can grab wider shots without having to stop to change lenses. Used for that purpose, it's a great little cam!
At 28mm it's surprisingly sharp across the frame, also surprisingly with no barrel distortion. Contrast is good, and at ISO 100 there's no discernible noise.
Unsurprisingly, zoomed to 140mm (and f/6.6!) in moderate light, sharpness declines and noise goes up, both markedly. But for a compact, image quality is still reasonably good. A minor alert to those who use the "VR" on this cam: if you have it on, it will override any ISO limitation you might set elsewhere in the menu.
The very simple menu is Nikon-style intuitive, and the tiny size of the cam means it goes wherever I go. Focus is relatively quick and shutter lag is negligible for my purposes.
The Coolpix S570 excels at what I got it for, and its low price makes it an incredible value.

I bought this camera for taking pictures of friends and family as well as pictures of my hobbies. It does a fantastic job! Very easy to
use and it takes quality pictures too. The macro
mode works great for close ups of flowers and getting intimate detail on some of my projects
that I post online. I honestly can't think of anything I don't like about this awesome little camera. The transaction went real smooth too.

We are an audio electronics manufacturer and we have several of these Coolpix cameras for our Sales staff and tech support people. Lens good, 12 mg gives us the clarity we require, easy to travel with and comes with everything one would need. Very good images for record keeping, print and also blow up very well if need be. Nikon just keeps getting it right. I also have a D70 and a D90 for personal use.

Nice size, easy to use (I've had multiple coolpix, so I'm used to the settings). My main complaint is that it takes a few seconds after you take a picture on high MP before its ready for another picture- you can lower the MP and it is quicker, but a bit annoying. I know this can be fixed if get a much bigger/more expensive camera

I purchased this camera so that I would be able to have a camera with me all the time be likely to take more pictures, under the theory that in order to improve my photography I should be taking more pictures.
Because of the size, and form factor (about the size of a deck of cards) of the camera I am taking many more pictures than I have in the past. I can carry it quite easily, it fits into my pants pocket. It starts up quickly and goes from off to ready to shoot in just a few seconds.
The image quality is excellent, and the battery lasts for about a week while taking about 20 -30 pictures per day.
The only real negative is that that the shutter speed cannot be set manually.
Overall, great camera.

Very nice camera. I also own a Canon SX200is which I like, but the Canon is a little large to carry when I ride my motorcycle. The CoolPix S570 is smaller yet provides excellent features and quality. The exterior finish is beautiful and the 2.7" LCD is large enough. Because it is 2.7" for this size camera the controls on the back panel are perfect and very easy to use. Owners Manual is well written. Love the Scene selection mode and Smart Portrait System. 5x optical zoom is enough for this small point and shoot. Movies also great. [...] Bought extra Nikon battery and 4GB ScanDisk Ultra SDHC card at the same time.
