The Nikon CoolPix S70 is a compact, narrow-profile point-and-shoot digicam that along with its pocket-friendly design features a 12.1 megapixel CCD sensor and a bright, 3.5" OLED Touch Panel screen that allows you to adjust the exposure and tonal values, as well as focus the lens and fire the shutter by merely tapping on the camera's screen.
The S70's 5-way Vibration Reduction (VR) system compensates for up to 4-stops of camera shake when shooting at longer shutter speeds. The S70's VR system also increases the camera's shutter speed and adjusts the sensor's ISO sensitivity levels as needed under low-light conditions (up to ISO 6400). For trickier shooting scenarios, the camera's Best Shot Selector (BSS) automatically captures up to 10 rapid exposures and selects and saves the best of the lot.
Aside from terrific still images, the CoolPix S70 can also capture 720p video clips @ 30fps with sound, which can be played back on your computer or TV for all to enjoy.
In the creative department, the S70 features an Auto Scene Selector, which can automatically detect up to 16 picture scenes and set the camera accordingly. And for shooting portraits, the CoolPix S70 features a 3-level skin softening mode, in-camera red-eye reduction, Face-priority AF for up to 12 faces, as well as Smile Shutter and Blink Warning functions to ensure everybody is smiling and wide-eyed in every picture.
By using the touch screen sliders in various scene modes, images can be modified as desired. You can also take advantage of Nikon's Best Shot Selector (BSS), which automatically captures up to 10 images, and then selects and saves the best picture of the bunch

Comments about Nikon CoolPix S70 Digital Camera (Brown):
Nikon have developed this coolpix series with the intention to broad a different market besides professional or amateur photography. With this coolpix model (the new version of the S60) you see Nikon has gone beyond friendly. The design of the camera says it all: it's an avant garde design.. very stylish and yet with tons of potential for the average user. It's size lets you carry easily in your pocket.
Plus the nikkor lens (25-140mm) let you catch even those panoramical skylines you desire to shot on your average trips. What's so important to say about functionality of this camera regards to it's touch screen OLED display.
All menu functions and even the shooter button can be operated by a single touch. This resembles the tech most seen on apple products, whereas you can rotate, even zoom in or out on those pictures taken and so much more.
Another feature on this model it's the picture edition. You can manage color correction, brightness and contrast as most cameras do.. but what its cool about it though, it's the quick edition for sepia, b/w or even colorless and panoramic mode, so you can shot a few takes and you can paste them all together without the use of photoshop; plus, you also can use the touch screen as a finger board where you can add any detail you might want to (drawings or even a message).
It's not useful to detail in all the camera functions but what I can tell is the quick automatic modes, this is where nikkon goes friendly for the newcomer user. All the functions are displayed as icons all around the screen.... so no more complicated manuals or menus to read in order to ger ready to shoot! This makes it very easy and intuitive to use, and if the shot didn't come quite right you can erase it with a snap of a finger touch.
It's important to say, the flash mode can be a little tricky so you have to check the flash intensity otherwise your shots will get overexposed. Although, you might want to consider the shooter button on the LCD screen gets a little slow for those situations where speed is very important (for this you can use the upper shooter button -the only button you'll see on this camera-).
Also, there's a smile sensor so the camera does it all for you.. whenever you want a family portrait or even with your friends, you can rely on this little feature and the camera will do the rest... (it will shot automatically) besides, this little buddy has a moving sensor...so this gets very handy whereas low light condition or action is on the scene (unfortunately this only works with real people and it's not intended for animals or unanimated objects).
Another feature is the blink eye sensor; which means the camera will not shot if the subject is blinking his eyes (which this important for the average user).
In general, this camera does justice for it's price and having in mind this is not a SLR camera you can have fun with it. Just remember, as most touch screen tech around, it's not water proofed and even worse.. not shock resistant so be careful with kids playing with it!
By the way.. it does have HD video mode.. not bad for a small camera!

The touch screen tool is very friendly for review photos taken and exclude the worst ones, which are few since the camera is very easy to use.

Comments about Nikon CoolPix S70 Digital Camera (Brown):
Purchased this camera as a gift for wife; she had been wanting a "purse" camera for a year or so now. Tired of lugging the larger Fuji around.
She's loving it. In one week, she's probably taken 500 photos.
Enough said!
