I purchased the Bowers screw mount to use old Mamiya, Tamron, and Tokina screw mount lenses on my 5D mk II.
The product is fine and does what it says but much of the convenience of shooting digitally is thrown out the window and the experience will be akin to shooting with film.
The most critical thing to know is that your lenses must have manual aperture control or they will shoot wide open by default and you will have no depth of field control.
To be sure, remove the lens from the camera and turn the aperture ring. If you see it open and close, you're good.
1) QUALITY: The Bower adapter is a durable well- machined item.
2) EXPOSURE CONTROL: Still Mode: No in-camera metering. Video Mode: Auto exposure works normally (5D Mk II).
WORKAROUND: If you are shooting digitally, of course you can simply snap exposure tests or rely on a handheld meter.
3) INACCURATE LIVEVIEW: The DSLR live view will be inaccurate and appear underexposed in many circumstances so you will depend on the viewfinder for focus and composition.
WORKAROUND: If you have a video function on your DSLR, you can also hit record at which point the 5D II, for instance, will correct the exposure and you can compose. Useful in low light situations. You can then just trash the video clip.
4) NO DEPTH OF FIELD CONTROL WITHOUT MANUAL APERTURE CONTROL ON LENS: My Mamiya lens has this switch so the aperture is controllable on the lens, my other two lenses do not and so they always expose wide open.
If you don't have this feature on your screw mount lenses then they may be of little use on your Canon, unless you always like to shoot wide open.

This adapter is PERFECT for mounting threaded vintage lenses to your canon EOS body. The adapter is very heavy duty, I have no fear of loose lenses like you get with most cheaper priced mounts. A TOTAL MUST HAVE FOR VINTAGE LEND JUKIES!!!

Bought seven of these guys and all of them deliver. I've attached them to some old Pentax Super Takumara lenses and they all work beautifully. 1000% satisfied...

This product allows me to use my quality lenses circa 1970s, on my new Canon T3i. This adapter has no downside, other than auto settings no longer work, but I want to be in control anyway. Low cost; buy one for each legacy lens.

Comments about Bower Lens Adapter Canon - AF Camera Bodies to Pentax Lens Screw Mount:
Back in "the day" (mid-60's to mid-80's), I was totally involved with Pentax gear, mostly screw-mount lenses and accessories. I dropped out of serious work in photography until last year when I bought a new Canon EOS DSLR with a couple of lenses and discovered the joys of digital imaging. The problem was, I had some fine old lenses and macro equipment that wouldn't fit the new camera. The Bower lens adapter has put my old and much-loved Super Takumar lenses back to work and allows my bellows unit to again make macro photos really up close and personal. I like it so much I may buy another just for the convenience. It is well made, fits with precision and was an inexpensive way to put my old friends back to work. It does what is asked of it and that is all I could wish for.

Comments about Bower Lens Adapter Canon - AF Camera Bodies to Pentax Lens Screw Mount:
I thought I could never use my old Pentax-type screw mount lenses again after I went Canon Digital. The other brand of adapter was listed for [$]-- insane! Now I can use my Vivitar Series 1 70-210 Macro lens which along with my Mamiya/Sekor 55mm portrait lens (aperture rating 1:1.4) paid for a lot of wedding shoots and a few contest winnings over the years. Shooting a lot of film with manual settings means the only drawback to this adapter isn't really a problem. All-automatic exposure and auto-focus makes you lazy!

I bought this adaptor to mate with the adaptor I got with my spotting scope. The only problem was that the threads on this adaptor were course thread and on the spotting scope adaptor were fine. I was still able to make it work.

Bought this adapter for my sister that had a Pentax 1970 camera who recently received a Canon Xti camera as a birthday gift. She was really happy to be able to use her old Pentax zoom and other lens on her new Canon.
Would recommend to anybody owner of a Pentax and Canon.

Comments about Bower Lens Adapter Canon - AF Camera Bodies to Pentax Lens Screw Mount:
I use this adapter to attach several screw-mount, m42 lenses to a canon rebel xt. It works great, seems well-machined, and attaches to the camera body and the lens snugly and securely.
It should be noted that any automated functions the lens might have are lost. On this particular canon body, the light meter is not functional with the adapter in place, but with a little guesswork and trial and error (the beauty of immediately reviewing the digital images), properly-exposed images can be achieved. Lenses with manual aperture adjustments are ideal for use with this adapter, as you will still be able to adjust the aperture instead of shooting wide open all the time (leading to overexposure in outdoor bright conditions). The adapter I received came with a small metal tool to help remove it from the camera, if you happen to unscrew the lens from the adapter/camera rather than remove the lens/adapter assembly from the camera first. Solid product.

Comments about Bower Lens Adapter Canon - AF Camera Bodies to Pentax Lens Screw Mount:
I have several older telephoto lens's that I have kept for years. Just a packrat, but I hate to throw out expensive stuff. While looking at new lens's for my Canon Markii, I was shocked at what a designated telephoto lens costs. Yes, they do everything for you, but, that's a lot of money. This adapter is great. Inexpensive, well built and does the job you ask of it, adapt and allow you to securely mount your older lens's to newer camera bodies. It works.
The down side is, it does tend to stay on the body, thus the wrench that is supplied. Don't lose it. I suggest that you buy an adapter for each lens you have and get a generic lens cap for each new adapter. This will allow an easier method to exchange lens's and help keep crud out of the camera body. Keep the lens and interior of the camera clean, it is the pits to have to remove specks from the pics later. It is dusty not only in the field, but in the studio.
Tip. The adapter tends to stay on the lens if you tighten it a bit more than the body, allowing the adapter to come off the body easier.
I would recommend this adapter to anyone with any old Yashica TL-X style mount lens. Recycle those older lens's and save your money. Those old lens's are good, all you need is a good set of eyes to focus correctly.
The lens shoots wide open as installed. Using some sort of device to hold your aperature pin in, will allow you to close down the shutter aperature for your depth of field in manual mode. You can only shoot that way. The Canon meters the light for exposure, so that's a plus.

Comments about Bower Lens Adapter Canon - AF Camera Bodies to Pentax Lens Screw Mount:
I expected to adapt my old Pentax lenses to my new Canon EOS Rebel and that is exactly what this does.
I am a little disappointed at the difficulty involved in removing the adapter from my camera when I want to switch back to my Canon lenses, but managed to adapt paperclip tool to accomplish the task.
I would recommend this to anybody who has some old screw mount (Pentax type) lenses from their old film SLR and can't figure out what to do with them. This adapter gives new life to some old favorite lenses.

I can now use a lens that would be otherwise useless. I have a pentax screw mount lens that would not fit onto my cannon camera until I got this product. It is wonderful now I can reach out and use my macro lens for everything.

I absolutely LOVE this adapter. Being new to the hobby and not having the disposable income to get my hands on some of the fancier, more expensive lenses, this lets me use some of the older lenses that are kicking around my parent's house and opens up a world of quirky effects and possibilities. Very pleased with the results so far. Just remember that you will be shooting wide open most of the time.

I bought this adaptor to be able to fit my old Spotmatic F lenses on my new Canon EOS Xs camera.
It works perfectly and you just have to set the camera on Manual mode or Av mode (this last one is better). Only problem is that since the camera's viewfinder has no manual focusing aids it's harder to get the correct focusing on my pictures, but this is a problem of the camera not of the adapter that I'm sure I'll overcome with practice.
In a nutshell the exposure is no problem; the focusing is what takes more time to get the hold of.

I can now use my old manual spotmatic lenses on my new Canon 5D. One thing I hadn't thought about when I bought it, was that I wouldn't be able to use the in-camera light meter as it has no way to know what f/stop my lens is in. So, in addition to using a manual lens, I am now using a manual (hand-held) light meter all with a full-frame digital sensor. In my opinion, it's a perfect marriage of the old and the new.
