The Photo Finder Mini from ATP is a picture tracking device that adds GPS data to photographs for geotagging. The Photo Finder Mini searches for a satellite signal and the camera is synchronized with the device. After pictures are taken, the user inserts the cameras memory card into the Photo Finder Mini's docking station (included) card slot and the GPS data is synchronized and added to all photos on the card.

When using Google Earth and GPS compatible software (not included) such as Flickr or Panoramio, users can precisely track the exact location and time pictures were taken. They can then share photos with friends and family using online maps, providing a whole new way to organize and enjoy pictures.

Note! Google Earth software can be downloaded for free from www.google.com

Comments about ATP Electronics GPS Photo Finder Mini - Image Tagger With Docking Station:

This GPS unit is small and lightweight, and it's great that there's a planned implementation that allows for tagging photos without getting a computer involved. BUT it doesn't process RAW files, only JPEGs. So, if you shoot RAW, you'll have to add a few steps to your workflow. That's not something that I'm willing to do, so I returned this product. In addition, the support documentation is rather difficult to understand (it was definitely written by someone who isn't a native English-speaker), and getting started with this gizmo is therefore a little tricky. Make sure you carefully review the technical section at the manufacturer's website before buying this product to make sure that it will work with your photo ingest process.

Comments about ATP Electronics GPS Photo Finder Mini - Image Tagger With Docking Station:

First day I tried the Photo Finder I shot images with three different cameras - a Canon 50D, G11 and an older Pentax WR digital - utilizing three different types of memory cards. This unit did work with all three. Biggest question was whether or not the thing was on - there are not a lot of bells and whistles. The two trickiest things are making sure the time is correctly entered when uploading - offset from GMT - this is not made clear in the instructions. I kept trying to figure out how to do it before I ever uploaded data. Be ready to know the time difference when you upload to the docking station!! Second thing is figuring out how to synch GPS data in the image properties but this may be a camera specific issue. Is it worth the money? I guess so. It is fun to upload the GPS data in Picasa and view in Google Earth. Oh, don't even bother trying to use this indoors.

Comments about ATP Electronics GPS Photo Finder Mini - Image Tagger With Docking Station:

The product works great. There are a couple of things that could be a little easier to use, ex. user need to figure out what time zone the pictures where taken, and figure out the number of hours difference from Grenitch time.
