Got a pair of these for use on my patio. These replaced a system that used an Amphony wireless system with a 20 W stereo amp outside that I had placed in a weather proof electrical box, driving Advent all weather speakers. Unfortunately I'd overheated the Amphony receiver/amp. The AR's work and were easy to set up. They look nice suspended from wrought iron hooks on my patio uprights. Only complaint: they sound pretty tinny. OK for background music, but I am disappointed in the sound quality.

I bought these because my wife has a tendency to like to sit out on the deck and open either the french doors to the kitchen or living room to watch her "pertinent" TV outside. I don't like the fact that some flys get in, or that we are cooling the great outdoors. With these, she can keep the doors shut and still watch her shows outside. The sound is not perfect, but as good as can be expected, and we have not had a problem with them eating through batteries. I have the transmitter plugged in to the satellite box in the guest bedroom, so the TV in that room doesn't even have to be on, just have the box set to the channel you want to hear outside, be it the kitchen or living room. They look nice also. All in all, I am very happy with them.

I wanted to hear Pandora and internet radio stations like WFMU (a shout out to Fool's Paradise!) outdoors and all over our 2 story house and basement. Well it worked fine and the improved bass (our iMac has nice sound, but only goes so loud) makes me use it in the same room as the computer.
When I tried it with batteries, it seemed to be a teeny bit fussy, but I moved it over 3 feet and it worked just fine again. Now I don't know how long the batteries will go, but they survived a 4 hour party and I haven't changed them yet. I also like the small footprint of the transmitter and my wife is still raving about how cute the lantern look is.
This unit is such a big improvement over similar models. I would recommend it to anyone who wants instant wireless sound. It also sounded great plugged into the headphone jack of my stereo. I'm thinking about getting a second one for our next large party as we have a smoking section that could use some music!

Bought 2 speakers and they work perfectly. Set up was easy. Just remember to turn up the volume on your source for music as you may think they are not on the correct channel when they are. They work great both inside and outside of the house. Highly recommend and the price from B&H couldn't be beat. Came well packaged. Would buy from again.

WE have had these speakers for several years now all of our friends comment about the great sound and Portability of them around our pool and when entaining out side...its gotten now we give them as gifts on special occasions a truely affordable and useful gift for family and friends. The only problem we have had with them is forgetting to turn it off...the batteries will die if you don't turn them off.

I am using two of these around my hot tub. They are pretty good but don't expect perfect for this price. But for my needs they serve the purpose. I have hooked up my iPod with them and by adjutsing the settings there you can enhance the sound more. Look great too!

Comments about Acoustic Research AW825 Wireless Outdoor Lantern Speaker:
Surpassed my expectations in terms of sound quality....I have a discerning ear for good quality audio, and this is that! It is also capable of pretty loud volumes which i was concerned about before I got, as I live on a loud road. Looks aesthetically pleasing, only negative might be that the power cord seems pretty "indoor" and not like a thick outdoor cord. Great wireless connection, never any static.

I bought this as a present for my Dad and it was perfect for use on the deck and all over the property. Extremely easy to hook up, looks great, Sound is good and the range seems to be as advertised. Not extremely powerful, but perfect for casual listening all over the yard.

The speakers are great the only complaint i would have on them is that the wireless signal gets interrupted easily so your placement of the wireless box is important.

I bought this for our church and hung it up outside playing worship music. Most of our people are in their sixties and seventies, they loved it and thought it was a great idea. It sets the tone for worship before you enter the church building. It is very loud and clarity is awesome across our parking lot. Thank you B and H.

I use it to broadcast my XM radio to remote parts of the house and out into the yard. The Audio quality is good. The range is about 100 feet through 2 walls. This model is only mono. They do make a stereo unit also (this unit you get both L & R mixed to the speakers.. The unit is AC or battery powered 4 AA. The battery life us unknown as of yet, I got 10 hours on it and still going.
FYI B&H had the best price!

For the money and what this items does it's great. My sister has one and we've used it at the Lake. We take the speaker outside of the camper and listen to music all day. It's lightweight and easy to use. I bought one for my mom at Christmas. She loves it because no matter where she is, outside or inside she now has her favorite music!

This is great for a back yard or patio setting with your music coming from a computer. I hooked up itunes or Pandora and ran to this. Sound is good - these aren't BOSE but respectable. I am thinking of adding a 2nd for stereo. Plug and play - no install issues at all. Battery life is short so it is best to plug in or keep rechargeable batteries around.
