Windows 7 Professional (32- or 64-bit) from Microsoft is the long-awaited successor to the ubiquitous Windows Vista operating system. Building upon Vista's impressive feature set, Windows 7 adds many features which simplify the way you use your PC, as well as the way that your PC connects to the world.
The Professional edition of Windows 7 is designed to meet the needs of business and home use alike. It omits none of the features that are found in the Home Premium edition of the software. These include improved desktop navigation, improved speed, the Internet Explorer 8 web browser, Windows Media Center, and HomeGroup networking.
Features gained by moving up to the Professional edition include Windows XP Mode, which allows you to run legacy applications in a true virtualization of Windows XP. You'll also be able to join Domains, which is often a requirement for connecting to corporate networks. Finally, the Professional edition adds the ability to backup your system to a home or business network.
Both the 32-bit and 64-bit editions of the operating system are included on the disc, allowing you to install the edition which best suits your needs.

Win 7 Professional, in the 64 bit mode, is extremely fast. Photo imaging is the main application to be use, and it is a joy working with very large files. I strongly recommend increasing your computers ram to at least 6 gigs. Some of the functions are not as intuitive as I might like, So my learning curve needs to be increased (which takes time, of course). Because my previous OS was XP Prof (32bit) a clean install was required which has caused some problems with re-installing all my applications, even though I had backed up everything. Overall I am very pleased thus far.

Meh!
It's Windows, what can I say. I hated to pollute my Mac with it, but work requires it. It installed on VMWare Fusion without any issues. B&H had the best price!

Win7l is way better than Vista which I have run for 2 plus years at work. I am now giving up XP at home after 6 plus years. Just time to move on.
Installed this inside Fusion 4 on Mac Pro machine.

[...]. My son wanted this operating system to upgrade from Vista as he was going to college. I have previously used Windows XP. This operating system finally lives up to the promises that Microsoft has made over the years and was worth the money. No problems to date whatsoever.

Comments about Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (32- or 64-bit):
Smooth installation (using 64-bit) and, so far, pretty reliable operation. I have seen a couple "blue screens" and it may not wake up from sleep mode after non-use so I don't leave programs up with unsaved work but, overall, neither of these are frequent enough to be a real concern with all of the thnings that work so well.

It is a pain when you try to install this in a computer with other hardrives. I had to disconnect the others to be able to install on new hardrive. Dont know if it was a Windows or IE8 problem but it kept on BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) and rebooting.
