The build quality is pretty solid. I've had no problems with it so far. I do have a problem with the viewfinder's magnification though. It slightly distorts or even blurs the image on the display a little too much for my liking. So it's difficult to get shots with a shallow depth of field.

I like the mounting plate for this better than the plate for the Z finder Junior, but I feel like these viewfinders are so overpriced for what you get that you might as well just by a hood and block out the sun that way. The finders awkwardly fit on to the screen and the edges of frame are a bit warped. The eye cup also gets bent very easily because the protective cap does not want to stay on. It does have a very nice zoom though and makes a difference when focusing, but the image still looks funny cause of warping. Basically this product is worth about 50 bucks in my opinion.

I needed a viewfinder for my 5D. Out of personal preference I like to use an eye piece when filming it helps me focus on the image not to mention keep the sun from reflecting on the LCD scene.

I've used other viewfinders on the Canon 5D, but this is the best of them as far as I'm concerned. It's especially good when wearing glasses, as it allows me to focus easily and to see the entire viewing screen without moving my eye. I also like the fact that it doesn't require attaching anything to the back of the camera and that it allows me access to all of the buttons around the screen.

We use the 5D in bright glare filled environment under a bleaching Australian sky, where the LCD screen can become just a shiny patch of white on the back of the camera, and trying to get sharp focus becomes guesswork. We tried another "viewfinder", we tried a hood: the LCD Viewfinder is so close to perfect - that we bought a second one for our 7D. And when a group needs a quick view, just hinge it out of the way - sunlight permitting.

The center portion is very sharp, almost as sharp as the Zacuto Z Finder.
Although it is labeled as 6X, the image seen is nearly identical in size to the Zacuto Z Finder, which is sold as a 3X. One of this has to be incorrect.
You get full Canon EOS 5D Mark 2 LCD coverage but the edge is badly distorted, much like a fisheye effect.
The flip away is a brilliant idea and does not require the glue down as in the Z Finder.
No diopter adjustment but worked for me and I wear +1.50 reading glasses.
