The LPK 25 keyboard more than satisfies one's expectations. I use this for home recording and performance, specifically producing dance genres and basically everything else that can be dreamed up. The keys feel exactly how they should - light, fast, compact and velocity sensitive. As a laptop performance keyboard, its 25 keys display a range of two octaves at once. The octave up and down function buttons sweep across an entire piano roll. The function buttons also include a built in arpeggiator, sustain, and program for four different scene set ups. The scene editor software is simple and fast. The keyboard and scene software takes minutes to learn for beginners, and is a quick set up for experienced users of midi controllers. It can be used for triggering beats and sending CC messages. The LPK25 works great, is built sturdy, and doesn't glitch or lag. The colors are also pretty stylish. It would be better if the arpeggiator had a midi clock to sync with the digital audio work station, otherwise arpeggiated notes get out of sync after a number of bars. The LPK25 keyboard is a great buy for anyone who wants a light, portable, and top performance midi keyboard.

I use this keyboard (in conjunction with another controller) to play Midi instruments and drum sounds in Ableton Live. It takes very little space on my worktable, has some velocity sensitivity in the keys and basically does what I need it to do.
Nice little tool.

I use this midi to produce to produce electronic music on the go. Just one simple USB connection and you have full midi capability. You can navigate through the octaves easily with just the click of a button and have an arpeggiator on board. The keys are velocity sensitive which is a huge plus for a keyboard at this price. You can take this thing anywhere!
Comments about Akai LPK25 - USB Laptop Performance Keyboard:
I use this with ableton and its great. the only reason i didn't give it 5 stars is because the arpeggio is really disapointing. overall extremely solid small midikeyboard, well worth the money.

I am using this keyboard to learn how to play the piano. My Professor told me that I needed to get a keyboard, so I decided to go and get this controller. It works almost perfectly and I would highly recommend it to anyone. The only thing I don't like is how sensitive the velocity is...that's really the only con.

I use the LPK25 every Sunday in the worship band. It's perfect when you need a second key board to do leads or other fills. The tap feature is so easy to use and allows me to add arpeggios at the same tempo as the song we're playing.

Simple and inexpensive keyboard. Easy to use with creating midi files for sheet music. Instruction manual not specific enough to explain in detail if unfamiliar with technical keyboard terminology.

I use it with my macbook, lots of fun. The keys feel good. It is very convenient to take and use. It's a great toy, do not wish a real piano feeling from it.

I use this keyboard to make beats and record short riffs when I am at school or traveling. It's a great keyboard. The velocity sensitive keys are a great bonus to the keyboard for a price. There is nothing I don't like about it. However, whenever I use the "arpeggiator" it's always set to a default tempo. Not the last tempo I had it at. Kind of annoying, but then again, I never use the arpeggiator so it's not a big deal. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good starter keyboard, or any traveling musician. Great product! It's also purely USB powered. I really love this keyboard!

Comments about Akai LPK25 - USB Laptop Performance Keyboard:
It works exactly how you imagine it to. The keys are surprising easy to play with good action and velocity sensitivity. I bought it for note input into Sibelius and Finale and works great for both. I just used it with another full size MIDI keyboard in the pit of a musical with Logic Studio's Mainstage and it worked flawlessly. Great keyboard and controller! The best part is you can just throw it into your laptop bag when you're ready to go. I just wish that Akai made a case of some sort to prevent any injury to the keyboard.

Does everything I want it to do. I use with Maschine, just to tap in some beats. Sometimes you don't always want to bang on the pads. Give a soft touch to your work.

I use this keyboard just to input MIDI events while I'm editing MIDI programs. Works great for this purpose. It is quite responsive to velocity. Nice for the price. (I only wish it had aftertouch.) The octave keys also make it very usable for live jammimg. Due to the diminuitive size, it fits in my computer brief with a notebook computer. I'm quite satisfied with this purchase.

The keyboars is great.
but the installation CD they gave doens't work on WIN 7..
I guess it needs some driver which is missing or so.
In the product description AKAI said you do not need to have a driver.. it's plug and play device..
but with WIN 7 its not plug and play..
did lot of research on google to find right driver for AKAI LPK but didn't find one for this product ..
Btw I have WIN 7 enterprize edition and my laptop is high end..
So I did a trick to download arturia(open source program for MIDI keyboards) on my system and that works perfectly great with this product.
overall this product is great.. although its not like normal keyboard but you can still play your finger fine

Comments about Akai LPK25 - USB Laptop Performance Keyboard:
This keyboard has helped me out so much in my music writing. It fits perfectly in my backpack, very portable and the keys ended up feeling better than I had expected. The keys are smaller than normal but they are playable if you want to use it as a midi keyboard for peformance purposes. I use it on Mainstage as a secondary keyboard for synth sounds (glockinspiel, synth bells, Harp) and Sebilius for writing. It's really a plug and play keyboard! The only con I have is that there no sustain pedal input....that would make this keyboard absolutely perfect

Comments about Akai LPK25 - USB Laptop Performance Keyboard:
The LPK25 is a small and portable midi keyboard which is compatible with most Digital Audio Workstations and any other software that is MIDI compatible. Although it wasn't packaged in a box, the LPK25 arrived in one piece with a usb cable and installation CD. Installation on my Mac OSX system was a breeze and I didn't have any problems with it whatsoever. Once I fired up my DAW Ableton Live 8 I was able to use it at once with the various VSTi's available and it even had touch sensitive keys which I thought was pretty great for a unit of this size. Overall this midi keyboard has a solid build quality and the keys felt just like other keyboards but on a smaller scale. I know a few people that would also recommend this over the Korg NanoKey which seems to have unusual keys like those found on computer keyboards. The only problem I could find with this product was the fact that there was no pitch and modulation wheels included (something which would have been nice). However, the built in arpeggiator, octave +/-, sustain and program buttons, made of rubber, worked really well. If this keyboard had pitch and modulation wheels, I'd give this product 5 stars. Overall the build quality and travel friendly size is a winner!
