Comments about Epson Perfection V500 Office Scanner:
I have only scan a few pictures some was not straight some seemed as if there were not flat on the screen. I have not had time to see what the problem may be. I had hope it would reconigize picture size. There may be a setting.

Comments about Epson Perfection V500 Office Scanner:
It takes a whole day to assemble to only discover that EPSON has listed wrong instructions, after two hours of toll free phone, they will send you a replacement because they do acknowledge that the instructions are wrong. I bought it for the autofeeder and that's exactly the wrong information. The autodetect device is supposed to read the autofeeder but it doesn't work. the instructions say "use office mode" and it works on full mode, no office mode. So if you are in a rush, do not plan on this piece of garbage. Not user friendly for sure.

Comments about Epson Perfection V500 Office Scanner:
In my business I'm trying to go paperless. This applies for the documents I send out to others. Everything is being done through email if possible. However, there are still people that cannot figure out the ease of the internet including email for the life of them. Some documents need a real signature on them in order to be legal and binding. In these cases I get the paper documents and sign them. The Scanner then helps me convert the documents into electronic files that I can pass on as electronic files. This scanner has a feeder that can scan a stack of legal format as well as letter format paper. This is important to me since most of the contracts I deal with are written on legal form and the opening of the lid and scanning every page single is a waste of time. The scanner is very light and when I got the box I first thought it was empty. It has a lot of extra equipment to ease the scanning of photos, business cards, and 35 mm film, as well as a background for smaller sized paper scans. I don't use any of it but others might.

Comments about Epson Perfection V500 Office Scanner:
Not sure what Epson was thinking when they released this product. I bought it to scan my old photos, thinking that the 30 page ADF feature would save some time.
Out of the box, it wouldn't work. Turned out to be a defective USB cable. After replacing the cable and getting it to scan sometimes, I've determined that the USB interface is definitely shakey. I tried both USB 1.0 and USB 2.0 ports.
Then I discover that the scanner will not allow you to adjust the feeder for widths down to 4", the std size of a photo. So I lay them in there wide side first. Near half of the scans have jammed the ADF.
And if that's not bad enough, there are 2 thin green lines running the down every photo. and every scan is nowhere near as sharp as the original, scanning at 800 dpi. Thinking that it might be software, I bought Silverfast AI, only to discover it doesn't support the ADF function of the V500.
I want to return it but I'm scared to death of the packing. It was ridiculous unpacking it. Not sure I'll be able to repack it.
Very disappointed in Epson. I've generally been pleased with their products.

Comments about Epson Perfection V500 Office Scanner:
I wanted a scanner that could scan documents via sheet feeder AND give me good scans of old photos and this scanner is filling the bill. Scanning is much faster than my previous flatbed scanner and it even offers the ability to scan slides and negatives. Now I can get all of our old photos and slides digitized so they can be shared with the family!

I have been using this scanner for several weeks now. My project is to scan into PDF format all of my current and old bills and go truly paperless. I have created approx 200 scans, each scan averaging more than 10 pages, and have had NO problems with the scanner!! I definately recommend this scanner. [...]
