I almost regretted getting a portable hard drive because of storing and carrying it. I was sure I'd destroy it. I bought this case and am very pleased with it. Inside is the key, one side has an elastic band that holds the cable in place, the other side has a net to hold the portable drive in place. When you unzip and open it, nothing flies out. The outside is stiffened to add extra protection, but you must use common sense, it will crush if you try hard enough. The WD My Passport Essential external hard drive fits very nice. Very worthwhile investment.

I bought this case and a LaCie case for the LaCie 500MB rugged hard drive. The LaCie case fit much better than this one by Caselogic. It is a tight squeeze. But if I remove the plastic trim for the rugged hard drive it is an easy fit.
