Bought this as my first octa. The setup was a little tricky, and i applied a little pressure to the speedring for alienbee mound and it popped lose from the attachment screws. To fix this was simple I removed the screws and refastened it. The build quality of the actual octa is great. I have had no problem with this product.

I read it took someone an hour to assemble. I timed it myself. After removing from the box, it took exactly 5 minutes to assemble - and a minute or two more to place the internal baffle and outer diffuser. No issues whatsoever.

Very well built, easy to setup, breakdown and stores perfectly it the provided bag.

This softbox is amazing. You can feather the light to achieve many looks. Even suspended facing staight down above and in front of a model works!

Used as main light and works it as a perfect fill. I tried it with no baffle & diffuser, baffle only and front diffuser only. Great looks out a single large light source.

I use it along with a couple Creative light 1x4 foot strip lights & grids - which I am very happy using. Images look great!

I plan to get the grid soon.

As both a teacher and a studio professional, I am extremely satisfied with the quality of this product. While it is not the best of the best in quality, the extremely affordable price makes it a bargain buy. Light quality is good. Assembly easy.

The first time I assembled this box, one of the rods poked through the poorly sewn construction. Extremely hard to assemble and disassemble. I completely wasted my money and will discard in favor of the new competitor's 4 x 6 softbox with umbrella construction.

i use this for portraits ... and the wrap around effect is amazing ... there are so many creative ways to use this softbox ...
buuuuuuuuut .... it was such a pain to put together ... maybe because it was new and i didn't want to do anything that would cause it to rip or break ... but man i tell you ... getting those rods in ... is murderous ... its not something you would want to take down and put back up on a regular basis ...

This was my first purchase of the Creative Light products but I was impressed with their web page and catalog and their products are able to work with my Canon flash units and my Quantum 5d flash units with the adapter ring.

When putting the soft box together I was at first overwhelmed but it and encourage to have a second person help. I also found it best to insert the metal rods into the sleeves of the soft box first and then work to align them with the matching holes in the adapter ring. Admittedly, it took a little more energy than expected and I didn't count on the soft box being a little more heavier than I anticipated for my Quantum flash, so I had to have it supported.

But what pays off is the gorgeous quality of light this unit puts out. As photographers we know the larger the source of light the softer it is and this soft box does not fail us in that regard. It impressed me that I wouldn't hesitate to purchase from Creative Light again. So be patient when putting it together and know that in the end you'll have a wonderful source of light that will make your models/clients look even better.

great light for the price if you want a large octabox. fairly easy to put together for a softbox despite the size (actually 10x easier than the 1x4 box)

I ordered this product foregoing the elinchrom octa. Great looking box and seemingly good quality material. I started to set up the rods and the third rod ripped and went right through the seam of the softbox. I was disappointed as this was on the day of a shoot. I managed to contain this by applying gaffer tape at the seam (about 6 inches of the seam was ripped). The shoot went well. The quality of light was great but now I am waiting to address the defect. I sent a message to Creative Light and I am still waiting to hear back from them.

I got turned on to this bank doing a product shot at this really nice studio in portland or. they had like eight top of the line broncolor packs. the studio assistant set me up with an octa bank on a boom and i started shooting. I made a joke that the bank musta cost a grand. He said no all their modifiers were this creative light co. and they weren't very expensive. About six years ago i bought a photoflex bank for about 350. this cl bank is more solid. easier to assemble and looks better, and i think it produces slightly more even light.[$] bucks is cheap. i also like their color coding on the speed ring so you can use multiple types of banks on the same ring.

This octabank is HUGE. The rods are stiff and took about 1 hour to put together. Wouldn't recommend taking apart unless no choice. Quality it good.

I wanted a portable, low-weight solution to location portrait photography utilizing speed-lights. I attached a Quantum X5d to a CL speed ring shoe mount, attached this softbox, and was able to achieve perfect lighting with the 400 watts, while filling and highlighting with my T5ds to achieve the necessary ratios for a good photo. This softbox represents a $500 savings from other softboxes listed for sale. Just as good!

This octobox gives a beautiful light quality for portraits. It's no harder to put together than other softboxes, but it's certainly not easier, either! I've only had it a couple weeks, so can't really speak to the durability of the product, but it seems to be well built.

-i use it all day 14 hours a day .. and is great-Very well constructed, compared to all other brands out there -very well packed-in other review it says difficult to assemble but it just take me about 4-6 minutes to install everythig.-i also got a retail store and this is by far the best softbox i have used-the quality of light is more than i expected -this softbox is HUGE-the design of this product is awesome[...]

i have used the Creative light 5' Octa softbox now for a few weeks i have to say setting up or taking not is really not a problem. i have gotten great results out of using it and for the price it should be in everyones studio
