Comments about Creative Light 4 Section 13' Boom Stand:
I use this for overhead softbox, and also with a reflector holder for large flags and reflectors.
VERY solid construction, the female end of the stand is metal, rather than plastic and has horizontal and vertical slots for the brass studs. Very easy to use, and really for how far you can boom out, it folds up rather compact for its size. If you are even thinking about using a boom or softboxes in studio or on location, just save yourself the time and order one.

Comments about Creative Light 4 Section 13' Boom Stand:
I've had this stand for about a year now. I like it, but over time have found a lot of flaws that have me ready to move on from it. First off, it's pretty light and sturdy. It's easy to open and setup. As a regular lightstand, it's great. It's quite tall (13') and sturdy. The air cushioning is great, but only works with the lowest section. It doesn't cushion the upper section when you lower it. On the other hand, as a boom, it's not so great. When you convert it to a boom, you lose half the height. so, at the base, fully extended the height of the boom when horizontal is just over 5 feet. the arm will hold a Paul Buff Einstein with a 64 inch PLM fully extended, but it's pushing the limit of what this thing can hold. Tilting the arm up as high as reasonably possible, still leaves the bottom of the PLM at less than 6 feet. I often have issues with the plm getting in the way. Once the unit is loaded, it's pretty difficult to make adjustments to the stand. To try and raise the height, I have to put one foot on the base, brace the boom with one hand and loosen one of the sections with the other. It's almost a 2 person job. Same goes when adjusting the boom, except there are 2 clamps to open instead of one. So, i think this stand is great for speedlights, and medium to small modifiers. I would pass on it if you want to support studio strobes though. Oh yeah, when closed, it's just over 4 feet long, so it doesn't fit in a standard 48 inch light bag. That's a hassle too.

The boom extension packs neatly into the stand itself.

Comments about Creative Light 4 Section 13' Boom Stand:
Holds my AB800 with a 47 inch octabox really well. Pipe seems a little flimsy if boomed all the way, but I don't think it's a problem if you aren't putting anything too heavy on it. Very nice, compact, design with a very wide footprint. I like the build of the sandbag as well.
