The Kirk BL-P1 L-Bracket is a compact and rugged quick release plate that is custom designed to snugly fit the tiny Olympus E-P1 "Pen" camera. This plate fits the Arca-type standard, meaning it fits into quick release adapters using the Arca-Swiss standard. Kirk Enterprises makes a fine quick release clamp, amongst many companies in the market offering them. Given this Olympus' diminutive stature, you could use Kirk's light 1" or 1.75" long Arca-type clamps.
Machined from a single piece of 6061T6 industrial-strength aluminum, the BL-P1 fits like a glove and does not block any controls. You'll never need to take it off the camera.
Any user of the E-P1 can appreciate weight savings while still seeking sharp images, and traveling with a vertical L-bracket saves you some weight because you can use smaller tripods and still achieve sharp images when the camera is in the vertical orientation. This is because the camera stays centered over the center of the tripod support. Beyond the ability to get away with a smaller tripod, an L-bracket also allows you to quickly exchange between horizontal and vertical images without needing to adjust any positions of the tripod head.

Comments about Kirk BL-P1 L-Bracket Quick Release Plate f/ the Olympus E-P1:
I have used Kirk products for 20+ years. Not one failure. As with all Kirk products it is light, strong and fits all Arca-Swiss style products. Requires 4mm Allen wrench--supplied by Kirk. This one is particularly light in keeping with the camera it is made for.

Comments about Kirk BL-P1 L-Bracket Quick Release Plate f/ the Olympus E-P1:
Enables the camera to be turned between vertical and horizontal formats while keeping the camera and lens aligned with the tripod or tripod head axis of rotation. By contrast, a ball head turned 90 degrees shifts the camera axis off of the tripod axis. When used with a nodal rail, the L-bracket provides a very convenient way to shift from horizontal to vertical format for panoramas.
