I've been using FCP for 10 years - prefer it to AVID. Finally FCP has come of age and the studio offers all the tools you need in todays media environment (except After Effects and Dreamweaver -so, okay get Adobe Creative Suite too).
with FC Studio I edit a variety of media formats, export to compressor for DVDs, or via QT for web use. Master professional DVDs, and create great menus and navigation in DVD Studio. Also use Soundtrack Pro to create interesting tracks for client web videos. Always love the ability of Motion and Color to perfect details. These upgrades are more refined than previous editions and offer better control and of course are ideally suited to the newer Apple computers, which can handle more media smoothly, faster.

I love Final Cut Studio, but this isn't much of an upgrade from FC studio 2, If your upgrading from Final Cut Studio v1, go for it. It's also a bit of a disappointment that the manuals are only provided in digital format, whereas the FCS 2 upgrade had all the printed manuals included for the same price.

For those upgrrading computers for professional video editing, this older version of final Cut Pro remains one of the best editing applications you can buy. I had some concern running it on the new Mac OS Lion, but so far I have not had a problem and NO crashing. On the down side, Apple no longer supports this application suite!

Finally upgraded to a mac pro and I figured I might as well update my editing system. Plus a lot of plug-ins that I had purchased didn't work well with FCP 6. Also, I'm new to HD editing but noticed that AVCHD does not import well at all into FCP 7.
All the programs I use work well with FCP and so I just want to keep everything updated. Also, it was way more affordable than in the past to upgrade. There's nothing significant about the upgrade so far otherwise. I'm sure they'll be surprises along the way though.

I needed to the Blu-ray exporting that is now in FCP7 and Compressor, otherwise I was fine with FCS2.
It was a fair price for an upgrade but there weren't a ton of "improvements".
I'm looking forward to trying out the Prores LT codec which I hear produces excellent results and files are 30% smaller than regular Prores 422.
The Blu-ray features work and are adequate but still fall short of the authoring capabilities that we were used to in DVD Studio Pro. Looking forward to a BD upgrade to DVDSP.

The best thing about Final Cut Studio is the massive bundle of awesome tools that come in the suite. Motion and Color are the two most useable aside from FCP. Soundtrack is still limited to me, and LiveType was eliminated after FCPS2, which is really too bad. I would like to see a major upgrade for FCPS4 with better round-trip ability, a better sound editor and the ability to do real compositing al la After Effects. All that aside, I've researched all of the NLEs and Avid was a contender once - but ultimately, Final Cut gives me every thing I need... I felt no need to move to another NLE because FCPS3 is a superior product.

I recently upgraded to Final Cut Studio so I could take advantage of the Motion 4 upgrades, specifically for creating a text scroll. This program made it effortless for me to import an RTF and simply drag it into the program. Needless to say, all of the other upgrades in this package are well worth it!
