Did not want to purchase a battery/grip for my 7D since the body is large enough to grip by itself (was not the case with my 20D). Wanted to add the Canon hand strap but for some reason they don't make one that will attach without a grip. It's easy to insert you hand into this strap, one quick pull of the cinch strap and it's not going to fall off your hand. A quick pull of the release and it's off easily. The mount on the bottom is well made, does NOT interfere with the battery compartment at all, and you can connect your tripod to that part as well (don't need to pull off part of the hand grip to put on your tripod.

No instructions with package, no instructions on the internet, no pictures and no youtube videos to show you how to attach the hand strap. By the time you figure out how to attach the stap you arrive at the inescapeable conclusion that it was not worth the time to figure out how to attach the strap. By the time I finally got my hand in the strap it was uncomfortable and attempting to adjust the strap just made the situation worse. Move on to something else and forget about this strap, it's a royal pain in the alpha sam sam.

This is really easy to attach. I love how fast it is to get my hand in and out while still not having to worry about it falling off my hand. It's really comfortable and is very adjustable. I like how it has a tripod mount as well. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

The only con is that it doesn't come with instructions on how to install it. Once I figured that out, I felt much more secure carrying around an expensive camera in my hand.

Comments about Pentax DSLR Leather Hand Strap:
The strap does not adjust well to my hand (my hand is not large) and makes accessing some of the controls awkward. It seems to be well made but for the money, would have expected a better design that fits better with my Pentax camera. I would not by the product again nor recommend it.

Other reviewers are right that the lack of instructions forces you to take a few minutes to figure out how to attach it. No bid deal. Fits great on my D5100, does not interfere with articulated screen in any way.
Much preferred to the neck strap especially with some of the heavier lenses.
Just installed it, so no long-term durability experience, but it appears well constructed.
Recommended.

wonder why I waited so long before to buy such a item ! Soooo much easier than the regular strap. The camera is always ready, just lift you hand and shoot ! Only down point, a little small, strap to short, for people with extra large hands but I have not seen any bigger sizes in other brands / models

Comments about Pentax DSLR Leather Hand Strap:
I purchased this because I was using my K5 all too often without the neck strap around my neck, risking having it knocked out of my hand.
I chose this product because it is a hand strap that also incorporates a wrist strap in its design, ensuring that the camera cannot be knocked away. Another likeable feature is the fact that the neck strap can be attached to the top of the hand strap. It works well both with and without a battery grip attached. Actually more comfortable with the grip attached, but not bad without.
The negatives include:
- No instructions are included - you have to figure it out yourself, ideally with the help of some online photos.
- The bottom plate, even though it is metal and pretty strong, isn't solid enough for effectively attaching a tripod mount. Simply not rigid enough, especially if the camera is hanging off to the side (for portrait oriented photo). Part of the problem is the rubber pad between the plate and the camera.

Comments about Pentax DSLR Leather Hand Strap:
No instructions at all. Took a while and a few tries to get it on. Once attached I didn't like the fact that I had to contort my hand to allow my thumb access to the back panel buttons/controls. The construction and material were top notch and the method of releasing tensoin worked great. It just didn't feel comfortable to me. B&H return policy is the best.

Comments about Pentax DSLR Leather Hand Strap:
I have a 5DmkII with a RRS L-bracket. The L-bracket has a slot in it *barely* wide enough to pry the strap through (after having completely disassembled the strap). My big hands barely fit into the assembled strap even when entirely loosened. Once snugged up my hand and the camera are inseparable. The strap fits around your hand at three points which gives it a lot of stability. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the strap pulls at the L-bracket at an angle and I fear that this is going to be a wear point. Also had to loosen a bit so my fingers could reach the buttons on the back of the camera.

I have used this a lot since I purchased it. In fact I picked a second one up for another DSLR. Fits like a glove. Very secure on pentax K20D and Pentax iST * Quite happy with it. I set it up woth quick connect rings to go from strap to grip. Works fine with battery grip as well as long as you are shooting landscape angle.

Comments about Pentax DSLR Leather Hand Strap:
Now that this is properly installed, it makes my DSLR feel like an extension of my arm. No fears of dropping the camera and it's extremely comfortable. My only complaint is that it comes with no instructions and I had it completely dissembled before I found a great explanation of how to install the strap here: [...]If it weren't for this information I probably would have returned the product for a refund.

Comments about Pentax DSLR Leather Hand Strap:
The strap is a great addition to my Canon arsenal, moderate setup required and familiarity makes it much easier. I don't believe this will be adaptable to a batter pack extension unfortunately. Somewhat difficult to attach and it blocks the battery cell door.

Comments about Pentax DSLR Leather Hand Strap:
I shoot canon camera gear and had no problem with this grip assist. The only issue if there is one is that the bottom that screws into tripod mount likes to slowly shift in the absence of a secondary interlock. Once it scooched a bit it actually fit my hand better. So there it is. The reviews I read before I purchased it were very accurate. The other ones available seemed junky for numerous reasons. You have to be somewhat of a Jedi to get all the straps set up... but if that is beyond your aptitude or scope of bravery than kindly set down the SLR and just use your iPhone. :) I had given this 4 stars for lack of absolute blissful perfection and than changed it to 5 stars for being the best one I could find. And, against my healthy skepticism... B&H did me right from start to finish. I would use them again!

Comments about Pentax DSLR Leather Hand Strap:
I have tried a number of hand straps that are similar to this one, but as far as I am concerned, none compare to the Pentax version. It can be adjusted in a number of ways and the materials used are clearly top-grade. I feel that the camera is secure at all times when I am using it. Other cheaper versions did not provide nearly as much security.
Also, this one allows easy access to the battery compartment of my Olympus E500. With the other versions, I had to nearly completely remove the strap to change batteries - and you know what a pain that can be.
I read other reviews that said this strap was difficult to attach - NOT SO.
I cannot recommend this strap highly enough. You can pay less but when you do, you get less.
