I have used the D5000 for sometime and used the Blue Crane DVD to reinforce my understanding of the camera. The DVD operates at the level of the expected user of the camera and concentrates on how to use the camera. It is an excellent tool for those who learn better visually. Sometimes the lessons seem to move too fast but this can be overcome by pausing and replaying.

While I did read the instruction manual that came with the camera (several times) this video was a little easier to follow. The detailed instructions along with the pictures of the settings showed me exactly how to set and use the various camera functions. This video will be a big help to newbies like me who are not familiar with the many different things an SLR can do.

As the video suggest have your remote in one hand and your camera in the next. The dvd was very well done and contains a menu system that allows you to return to the areas that you feel you need the most help with. This is not a manual on dvd, but rather an explaination to features contained within the camera. If you are serious about advancing your photographic skills and want to take your craft to the next level I would strongly suggest this dvd.

A friend of mine recommended this DVD for my specific camera and he was right. Pop in the DVD, sit back with your new camera and learn how to use many of the features from the comfort of your own home. Each step of the way, they talk about the feature or technique and then ask you to pause the video and practice.
The Cons: The production seemed a little cheap, but I wasn't so much interested in that aspect, more on how to use my new camera and it definitely did just that.
