Toshiba SD-890KR Multi Region DVD Player
The Toshiba SD-890KR is like a skilled diplomat that can bridge the gap between different countries and systems. It can play both NTSC (the North American system) and PAL (the UK and Australia and much of Europe) DVDs. What's more, it's region-free (also called multi region, zone free and multi zone).
It can play a wide variety of DVD and CD types: DVD-Video, DVD-/+R, DVD-RW/+RW, SVCD, VCD, CD, CD-R and CD-RW. In addition to enjoying all of these DVD and CD types, you can view JPEG photos and listen to MP3s. The SD-890KR can also play Divx and MPEG4 files.
JPEG files can be on popular disc formats like Canon QuickCD, FUJICOLOR CD and Kodak Picture CD or a disc you burn yourself. You can also display them directly from a USB device. MP3s can also be played from disc or USB.
- All Region Player
- DVDs are encoded with "regions" or "zones" to control where they can be viewed. Some DVDs are region "0", which means they can be played anywhere. The SD-890KR treats all DVDs as if they were region "0", playing them all.
- NTSC/PAL Player
- NTSC and PAL are the world's most common TV systems (a third, SECAM, is much less widely used.) If you bought a DVD in the UK, Australia or Western Europe it wouldn't normally play on DVD player sold in the US. With this player, chances are it will.
- Plays a wide variety of DVD and CD disc types.
- This player can play DVD-Video, DVD-/+R, DVD-RW/+RW, SVCD, VCD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW. In addition it can handle JPEG, MP3 and DivX files from disc or a USB device like a USB thumbdrive.
- Upconversion to 720p, 1080i and 1080p
- If you have an HDTV you'll see your entire DVD collection look better than they ever did in the past. Upconversion doesn't turn them into high definition but it's the next best thing. How "far" they'd upconverted will match your HDTV's maximum display capability
- Fast Scan and Slow Motion
- You control the speed. Fast scan to get to a scene you want to watch or switch to slow motion to analyze that golf swing or see if you can tell how that special effect was achieved.
- HDMI and Component Video Outputs
- Use HDMI to connect to a high definition set. Component video is an analog format that's compatible with both conventional TVs and high definition sets.

- Share your tunes and your pictures with your friends from a disc or a USB thumbdrive
