Comments about Porta Brace RMB-TP01 Radio Mic Bouncer:
(sidenote: the first one I ordered was defective - the belt clip was put on upside down causing the stick mic to stand straight up into your armpit instead of hanging to your side.)
Overall, like everything from Porta Brace, this bouncer feels very well built, quality materials, solid stitching, rugged fabric, etc... I have to say though, it may even be overdone. I've always had Porta Brace bouncers on my Lectrosonic cubes, and they were a nice simple, functional design: one hole on the top and a velcro door on the bottom. No fuss. No drama.
This bouncer for the Sony x-mitter, however, has a layer of sticky tape inside that will adhere to the cube so you will not be able to simply slide the cover up the mic to access the controls (problematic for changing batteries on the Sony). There are also to velcro straps inside to make extra-super-duper sure that the cube and cover will not separate - even when you want it to). To remedy that, PB has put a window on one side of the bouncer (so you can see your frequency and input settings) which opens sideways after tearing through an unnecessary amount of velcro. I wouldn't want to open it in a courtroom.
And because of the opening side panel, one side now has two layers of PB's extra-super-duper trademark blue fabric making the entire thing rather thick. The underside still has the pull-down you expect but PB has chosen to add nearly a half-inch of empty space (probably for extra protection). In the end, what you have mic bouncer that is just way over-engineered and will likely survive anything you can throw at it (while protecting the mic, of course). BUT it's big, kind of clumsy and has way too much velcro.
